Asheville Gastroenterology Associates's Online Review Report Card

It pains me to write this review because I had an overall positive experience with Dr. Harlan which is the only reason why I didnt give DHP one star. However DHP owes me a refund and they claim that a check was sent to me almost a month ago. Unfortunately I never received the check and I have been continually getting the runaround from their office staff. I submitted an email to the office manager over a week ago and have yet to receive any response. I also called the office a few days later and requested to speak with the office manager and I was told that would not be possible. So I requested a call back from her and once again I did not receive any response.It sure seems like they are trying to avoid paying me the money that I am due. On top of all that there is absolutely no record of any of this refund accounting on their patient portal or in my insurance patient portal. I do want some action to be taken promptly by DHP to get this situation resolved and if I have to go to the medical board then thats what I will do if it becomes necessary because this kind of behavior where my money is being withheld from me needs to be reported. It has now been 3 months that I have been owed this refund payment. If the shoe was on the other foot they would be demanding an immediate payment from me after that length of time.This practice has a virtual monopoly in Asheville and their lack of competition shows because there appears to be no accountability with the office staff from the top down starting with the office manager and then trickling down to billing. Unless this gets resolved in the very near future I will travel to Charlotte to see a gastroenterologist rather than return to Digestive Health Partners where my money is currently being held hostage. At this point I am seriously questioning if a check was ever actually mailed to me at all as I have been told by the office staff. Something is very wrong within the organization there when nobody will respond to emails or return my phone calls.That is totally unacceptable

This place is absolutely the worst doctors office Ive ever been to. They just push pills and they have 0 knowledge about what theyre talking about. Most of the people are quite rude or treat you as you are disposable. There are about 2 or 3 nurses that are fantastic and one doctor whose name is Joe decasta and he is awesome and kind. Everyone else just transfers you to a nurse who asks a doctor 2 days later and the doctor just says go to the er. They dont care. If you can go somewhere else then please do because Ive been going for 2 years and have yet to be helped at all. You will have better luck going on YouTube.

sadly the worst run doctors office in asheville nc

I am a new resident and have been trying to get through to this office to make an appoint for literally 2 months. My primary Dr even referred me. They did call me one time and of course I missed that call. I have called and sat on hold for scheduling for probably over 5 hours in total between all the calls sitting on hold for 20 minutes at a time. Right now Im on hold and have been for 17 minutes. They have a system to leave a request for a call back before 7pm which I have done 4 times and never recd a call back yet. I am in dire need of services. Maybe Ill die of whatevers wrong with me before I ever get an appt. It would be faster for me to drive back to Florida and go to my Gastroenterologist there. At least his office actually answers the phone. Extremely disappointed so far and not even looking forward to an appt at this point considering their service may be just as lacking as their ability to take a phone call from their patients

This place is just awful. I was suffering with severe diarrhea and was not able to see or even talk to a medical doctor only a PA whom they call Advanced Practitioners after suffering for 8 days. They wouldnt let me pick up a stool specimen kit until 7 days had gone by and then the test results took 10 more days . I had to ask them to check for a certain disease which I did test positive for so I diagnosed my own problem. I was only able to speak to a RN about proper medication and dosing and was given wrong and misleading information. They ordered some invasive tests without me being able to discuss these beforehand with a MD there. I decided I desperately needed to see a knowledgeable doctor who had experience treating my condition and asked to be referred to Duke. After 1 week I called Duke to find they had never received a referral form from Avl. Gastro. I finally was able to make an appointment myself with a specialist at Johns Hopkins where in a just a few weeks I would be given an hour long appointment by a competent gastroenterologist who has expertise in treating my condition. I am posting this review in the hope that a potential patient will not choose this place for medical care and attention. Unfortunately I do not know of any competent gastro. doctors in this metro area.

The service has always been great but the billing department is not helpful at all. I as well as my insurance company have been trying to get them to resend a bill with the corrected information since Jan 2021. Called 12521 3821 and now 4521. They originally sent it with the wrong Group Number and still have not corrected. Very unprofessional

I have been coming here since I was 13 years old. I have been coming since I was teen I love this place. Everyone is nice and friendly.

I have been a patient at Asheville Gastroenterology Associates for many years. They provide excellent care. I highly recommend Dr. Rodney Perez and his PA Joe Decosta.

I am very unhappy with trying to get  someone in scheduling  tonight  answer  the phone.Yesterday 2821 I  called 820 and there were 0 callers in the system waiting but noone would answer my call.I was on hold for 35 minutes and still no one picked up so I hung up. All I wanted to do was to confirm an appointment.

I have been a patient of Dr. Cender since 2001. I am thankful for Dr. Cender and Digestive Health Partners providing quality care for our community. The entire staff from the front desk check out PAs nurses lab techs everyone who provides patient care are professional and care about every patient. We are blessed to have digestive Health Partners in Asheville North Carolina. If I could give more than five stars I would.
