List of Matthew W Wood's Reviews
Very good procedure. Very professional. Very thourough
I find the three previous reviews good I would have liked him to go over the findings which I read for myself. I understand that there were no serious findings but I didnt know I had a hiatal hernia. Checking online showed me symptoms that my regular doctors didnt explain or refer me for. I would have appreciated the extra time. Otherwise I felt that I had Dr. Woods entire attention something thats getting rare these days and that he will likely be attentive to questions or problems I might have in the future.
If you go on to the web site Dollars for Docs youll see what kind of group these doctors are. They get major kickbacks from Big Pharma. Thats exactly how they treat you.
I have had nothing but issues with this physician. All he wants to do is prescribe harmful biologics without knowing what is really the root cause or going on. His RN gave me wrong information about my diagnosis. When I told them what the real issue was they never responded. They wanted to prescribe Humira without knowing I had a bacterial infection which could have compromised my entire body. They are a turnkey operation that do over 70 procedures a day. They do not want to try to fix you. They just want to place a Bandaid over it. His PA didnt even know the medication I was on and was giving me advice. The whole team is a joke. When the RNs answering machine comes on he says Thank you for calling Asheville Gastrology. Nobody really cares about you there. They care about their bottom line. Theyre unresponsive and do not embrace real medicine and finding root causes. I will drive 4 hours to Raleigh before I ever return here again.
Dr. Wood is the absolutely worst physician Ive ever encountered and I have been to a lot. His bedside manner is horrible. He is apathetic and only wants to prescribe drugs. His RN gave me the wrong diagnosis. The physicians at Asheville Gastroenterology are only there to test. You do not see a physician. You see a PA because they dont have time for you. I was told by their RN I had one thing and I come to find out that was wrong. Very unprofessional bunch. A lot of miscommunication.
This doc isnt in it to cure anyone he just makes $ on retesting. My mom has Hep C and went to Dr. Wood for a year. They kept running tests and then tell her to come back in 6 months. Finally Dr. Wood told her his waiting list is too long for them to submit her life saving prescription to insurance and the tests all have to be done again. She sought a 2nd opinion in Johnson City. She saw the new doctor five weeks ago and her life saving prescription will be here by the end of the week.
Dr. Wood is very throrough. He does followup procedures if there is anything suspicious. He is like most doctors and very busy so your time spent with him is very brief. Have questions ready.
Dr Woods was a great listner He asked questions took his time answered all our questions. Did not rush out the room waited till we were completely ready for everything he recommended. Thanks Dr Woods your a wonderful doctor.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
