In December of 2020 I went to Doctor Heck for my annual physical. At that time I had told Doctor Heck that I was starting to have pain in my hands and difficulty making a fist. Dr. Heck said they would draw a blood sample and run a test. Little did I know what those tests would cost me. About a month later I received a bill for almost $1400 as my insurance company would not pay for any of these tests. My question is how can a provider preform these types of test without consulting me or the insurance company with the costs that would be involved. To add insult to injury nobody from Doctor Hecks office had contacted me with any results of those tests. I like Dr. Heck as my primary caregiver and hope to stay on as a patient but will take great caution as to what is said on future visits. I would hope that Physicians East would review this situation and take measures to correct these issues as for someone like myself cannot afford to pay these types of unapproved medical procedures.
