Dr. O'Connell treated my post thyroid cancer and he has always listened well and helped my wife and I make decisions that fit our needs at the time.

Dr. O'Connell never gave up when trying to diagnose me. He ran tests on me every week to two weeks for 5 months. He thought I had adrenal insufficiency, but the tests came back different every time. He took up a lot of time with me each visit. He made sure I understood what was going on. I was finally diagnosed with adrenal insufficiency. I no longer live in Chapel Hill, but I will drive the 2 hours to see him. I trust him.

The doctor was very impersonal. A physical exam was not performed. He stood at the doorway of the exam room and despite the fact that I was referred to him after an emergency medical situation he appeared uninterested. After requesting that lab tests be performed,it has been 2 weeks and I am unable to get results or any contact with my physician. I was told the doctor was on vacation and I would have to wait until he returned for my labs to be interpreted. Still no resolution. In my experience with this doctor at this facility I felt that not a single person took my welfare seriously, nor their responsibility as health care practitioners seriously. I would NOT recommend this doctor to anyone, nor this facility. If you have any question about how your well being ranks within their operational paradigm spend 2 minutes listening to their outgoing phone msg.
