Wakemed Hospitals's Online Review Report Card

As I entered Wake Med Cary coming from an urgent care I was troubled not knowing what was wrong. Was greeted and checked in immediately. I was called back quickly even though they had no place to put me other than the hall. A nurse immediately started an iv and checking vitals. The doctor checked on me and ordered an ultrasound. Was diagnosed with appendicitis. She called a surgeon in and did the procedure. The care and the compassion showed me by the staff was above board. It is truly a blessing having this type of medical care here in our back yard. Thanks so much.

The staff here are on top of their game! I’m very happy to have been treated with medical professionals that care about their patients and getting you better.I highly recommend this ER. No one wants to go, but if you have to, this is the one you’ll be very satisfied with…

Was Visiting a Family Member and the original Nursing Staff was nice and friendly. At Shift Change and the “new nurse” Felisha M. RNs attitude was just unpleasant. And later she showed her true colors. Huffing and Puffing, Gas lighting and Was shaking over a simple misunderstanding about visitors

I work in health care and was sad to see what I saw.. there was blood on the bed in the triage room. That is unsanitary and unacceptable. There was also a cigarette butt in the corner. The nurses are amazing but I can tell that they are burnt out. Keep working hard keep pushing 💕

They treated us wonderfully at the ER and during my husband's emergency procedure.

WakeMed emergency misquoted me a price on entry for my visit and services rendered. I receive three bills for different prices from three different areas within the hospital all of them double and triple billing me for services (many of which weren't provided). I waited nearly 2 hours in the lobby and had to stop my own bleeding. And in general received the worst service I've ever had at a hospital. WakeMed seems to believe that since people are sick they have the freedom to over bill. Being from California I'm used to expensive medical care but the service is from WakeMed where 35% higher at minimum then what I would have received for the best possible care... To say that wake med is a racket filled with con artist would be an understatement since they rendered the bare minimum care that they possibly could while charging a premium since they rendered the bare minimum care that they possibly could while charging a premium. Total time to get three stitches in an empty hospital almost 5 hours.

If you want good enough treatment from a PA not an MD or DO yet pay the same price wakemed is the spot! I diagnosed myself…ridiculous

My husband was in Cary Wake Med, for Covid.He was sedated, on a respirator for 9 days, and in the hospital for 3 weeks.During that time, they removed his wedding ring from his finger - which I understand, but when he was released, the wedding band was not in the bag of his personal items (along with a second bag - that I had brought him with a phone charger and cables). The charger and cables were in his hospital clear bag - but the ring was not. I reported it to the nurses station (the number I had for contact) - they sent me to Patient advocate group, who then sent me to the Risk-Insurance Group. They were a mess. They told me that they would see if they could find it and would call me when they had info - but it would take time, maybe months. I said that was not acceptable. We have talked a couple times, I was told that they were searching video to see IF the ring was on my husband at any time, then I was told that one of the nurses saw the black bag on the floor after he was discharged, then they called and said another nurse said it was sent home with him (but it was not in the patient's bag). They then told me the case was closed, that they are not responsible for personal possessions - even though, he was sedated for 9 days, and the next week and a half, my husband was frail and out of it mentally - which they told me was all the meds working out of him. How could he be responsible when he was sedated? and he didnt even know they took it off. I called daily - why didn't they ask me to come get it? I have asked what is the process to log a complaint about lost items - and they said "they would take care of it" - there is not public process. Now I am trying to get a name of someone to talk to - other than this Insurance Person and that is impossible. Anyone know who is in lead position?

Went to the Er at 4pm and decided to walk out after not being seen in 4 hours.Feels like I have my appendix problem. I guess I won’t die if I sleep in my own bed tonight.Sure hope the kid that needed stitches in his lip lives since they rushed him right in.

The nurse staff in 3 West are not totally professional. If they don’t like their job they don’t need be there. The young nurses put more care in gossiping than the care in the patients. I have a terrible experience with the treatment of my husband with some nurses, and if you call their attention to their mistakes they will tell you that you Are a ruler, including the nurse managers. The only exception was Alyshia Fox, Christina Minch, Jessica, and the nurse manager Sharon S. who exercise their profession with charisma, care, and compassion that was reflected in each detail of the entire time they were taking care of my husband.
