Staff at the cancer center are very good. They're kind and caring, doing their best to make cancer treatment as comfortable as possible. Very specific shout-out to Tia in Oncology Infusions who brought me a more comfortable chair this morning. That was so kind and really brightened my day.
I was not impressed UF is such a better hospital. They focuse on patient care and quality of care. I cam3 here to do my cancer treatments and I was there in pain 8 plus and left in pain 8 plus. They are saying they have to get with all these other departments months before they can treat me. These tests have already been done. What a complete waste of my time and pain
I was very anxious about going for a follow up mammography due to some concerns. The first person I met was MiMi Welch. she performed xrays. Then due to ongoing concerns I needed additional xrays which were provided by Jolynne Hamlet. Again needed further testing, I then met April Purdy. Dr. Marie Vogel conducted the ultrasound. The "C" word was foremost on my mind and fear. These amazing women/employees of UNC Hospital were very kind, compassionate and empathetic. I appreciate that the Health professionals were all women due to the intimacy of the exams. I give a 5 + star rating for my care and treatment and hope they continue to demonstrate their commitment and care of others.
I have the most appreciation and respect for the Nurses and Drs that work here. Life got hard there for a bit but they were on top of it all the way. Thank you Dr Haithcock and everyone on the team that got me through it!! Be nice to your Nurses! #LifeSavers
Every staff member did their best to treat my brother. I can't say enough good things about UNC Cancer Hospital in Chapel Hill.
I cancelled a few appointments because of other issues. When I called to reschedule with the obgyn-oncologist, I was questioned for about 15 minutes on why they should reschedule me. I felt very unwelcome there after I was referred to as "taking away from the people with Cancer". I'm just in remission from stage 4 Ovarian Cancer. I was unwelcome from the 1st time I called because they questioned me then on WHY I wanted to go there when Cancer hospitals were closer to me. They don't have to worry about me calling back. And I cancelled my appointments properly and we'll over 24 hours in advance.
Everyone is kind..caring & well educated in their field.
This review is ONLY for the shuttle vehicle operation from the Hospital to the Dogwood parking garage. Our Hospital experience was excellent. When the shuttle came by to carry us to the parking garage, an elderly couple in front of us, and my wife and myself, 70's, all had trouble getting onto & off the van. The driver was talking on her cell phone while we struggled to get the double side door to open. Then the gentleman in front of us almost fell climbing the too high step, into the van. No step stool, no help from driver. The other lady and I helped my wife up the step, and then I almost fell, lurching sideways as my foot slipped climbing the step into the van. I have bad knees and was walking with my cane. The chatting went on in the drivers seat. Then we sat a few minutes, until I finally reached out and swung the ungainly rear door closed, then the main door. NO HELP, NO COURTESY, ONLY RUDE INDIFFERENCE, While CHATTERING TO WHOMEVER SHE WAS YAKKING TO. This is the second time we had a bad experience with this new shuttle system, and it's operators. The older, golf cart style shuttles were MUCH EASIER , AND SAFER to USE, in my opinion. CERTAINLY MORE COMFORTABLE. P.S. This all occurred on Feb. 6, at about 4PM. Hospital - Excellent, Shuttle - Horrible.
The care I received was wonderful. The doctors, surgeon and nurses were knowledgeable and compassionate. The administrative and billing departments are in absolute SHAMBLES. There have been constant discrepancies between my billing statements, insurance statements, and statements from their finance company, Access One. You can get the billing department to call you (during work hours), but if you need to call them back, it is all but impossible to get someone on the phone. Nobody communicates with each other so each time you talk to someone, you have to go through your entire billing history again. I just want to pay what I owe. Fairly. Without all the random charges that nobody can justify. In trying to figure out who did what with my bill, they have sent me to collections. And UNC is still calling me about the bills that they have sold off to collection companies. If you have another option, go somewhere else. If you have an elderly person in your life, send them somewhere else. Nobody has time for the incessant disaster that this hospital tries to pass off as professional business practice.
I’ve been going here about 3 years and the care is getting slack and it’s beyond scary and the more I deal with cancer the more I realize the care is very slack no return phone calls or messages. Cancer care is very important an not to feel Prioritize is very disappointing and this field of medicine it’s no room for slack. Unc really dropping the ball when it comes to cancer care.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
