List of Steele Creek Dermatology's Reviews
I would have given zero stars if I could. Take my advice and go somewhere else. You're not a patient here, just a cash register for them to grab money.
I absolutely love this practice. They are respectful, efficient and effective, while offering potential potential products in a professional manner. Dr. Helton is the best Dermatologist!
I really enjoyed the care I received from the PA named Rebecca and felt like she listened to all of my concerns and questions. I appreciated her working with me on the fact that my insurance no longer covers acne medication and recommended an independent compounding pharmacy that specializes in dermatology that would likely be able to fill my script at a lower cost. Really impressed with her as a provider and the time she took to care for me. The rest of this review is about cost and billing and insurance, which the clinician has no control over but should be information you keep in mind should you choose to go to this dermatology practice. If you have Medcost insurance, please be prepared for a relatively hefty copay before you’re even seen by a provider (not my favorite thing). I paid $113 towards my deductible and then had some moles/skin tags removed, for which I paid another $102 (my insurance covered part of it). I’m generally someone who prefers to receive an itemized bill after the appointment and to pay for everything after I am seen by someone. I don’t love paying for the co-pay beforehand and then being charged again before I leave. Again, if you don’t have a high deductible or Medcost insurance you may not have this experience, but at other specialists and even my PCP I get a bill after the appointment that details my charges and what I’m paying for. I would much rather have that than paying a copay before I’m seen, and then be asked to hand over my debit card again before I leave the building. I totally get that in this day in age it’s expensive to run a medical practice of any kind, and that health insurance companies and PBMs have a ton of unchecked power and control over providers, but I would be mindful of your deductible and budget a few extra hundred dollars for an appointment if you’re going to utilize Steele Creek Dermatology.
Wonderful experience. Friendly and helpful office staff. Dr. Helton and the nursing staff was kind and efficient. They explained the procedure to me, walked me through everything and sat with me after to make sure I was good before leaving.
Do not bother going here if you want to be charged a no-show fee for the first time. I never missed any appointment ever and had the wrong day in my calendar (the ONE time), but I never received the "curiosity reminder" of my appointment. The next day, I get a text I owe $60 for missing my appointment. Literally infuriated me because you can't remind me of an appointment, but you can remind me of a payment. The manager I spoke to was also very, very rude, and I feel that in this world, people should be either nice or show sympathy because...LIFE is expensive, and now this office just took away from our family grocery budget for the month. $60 is a lot, and I would consider changing the policy for after the first no-show you are charged or have the no-show be more like a $20 charge. It is literally insane being charged $60 for a no-show appointment...just sad. Thank you for eating into my family grocery budget for the month Steele Creek Dermatology.
I love Rachelle, but the new KIOSK system is pure laziness, technology reliance. This is the second time signing in to the Kiosk (takes forever). Apparently it took me too long past my “appointment time” and so even though I filled out the entirety of the form – it automatically canceled my appointment - no notification to me OR front desk (?) I sat in the waiting room for an hour, they didn’t even acknowledge me. I finally asked why haven’t I been called back? They said oh your appointment was canceled (?!?!) So apparently, I was just sitting in the waiting room, a human body that nobody acknowledged or told their appointment was canceled. They said “no worries” we’ll put you back in the schedule right now. Thank God I didn’t have anywhere to go next, so I waited again. I reported the “kiosk cancel” to Rachelle. She apologized and said she would address the front desk. Just be aware that you have to stay on top of the staff or you might get left in the wind.
I highly recommend Dr. Helton. She is very thorough and is a great listener, she always thoroughly answers all my questions patiently. Also her support staff is very efficient, I got into my appointment at the time it was scheduled! No waiting an hour in the waiting room (which unfortunately seems to be standard practice at most doctors offices).
It was my first visit and Dr. Helton very briefly greeted me and rushed through my visit. Never asked me if I had any questions or concerns and when I had to interject my questions, she basically brushed off my concerns and gave short answers. I will not return for a follow up. It’s clearly a business and not a passion.
charged me $60 for a missed appointment without any prior warning or notice they would do so. Absolutely ridiculous.
I showed up for my 8:15am appointment at 8am. At 8:20 I was called up to the desk and told that back in August (this is now February) I was sent an email notifying me my appointment had been canceled. You waited 20 minutes to tell me I didn't have an appointment. The unprofessionalism of this office is mindboggling. I have switch dermatologists. BTW - searched for an email, not there. Do better for your patients.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
