University Dermatology's Online Review Report Card

They send me a bill with no information on where or how to pay 🤷🏻‍♀️ Also they charged me $50 for missing an appointment which I haven’t confirmed or been told that there is a fee. My first appointment with their dermatologist was weird, I went to them to get medication for the skin condition I have which burns my skin. After looking at the spots on my skin the dermatologist was like let me see your knuckles, underarms, elbows etc and pointing out they are dark. I was confused on what’s he is trying to say and uncomfortable from the conversation. I don’t recommend this place!

I enjoyed being a patient for over 5 years and really enjoyed seeing Dorenfield for bi-annual check-ups and the occasional mole removal. I considered them one of my trusted medical providers and referred folks there over those years. After not being in for a little over a year, I called explaining that I need a spot on my leg examined that appears to be skin cancer. The scheduler told me it would be 2 months before they could see me, even after I asked if there isn't a way to be seen earlier given potential cancerous spot. I called again a few days later to speak to a supervisor, as I was surprised they don't have the ability to see someone sooner that may have cancer. Surely I thought they have spots for emergencies or matters that are urgent, like I would assume a cancerous area would be. In response to the second call, the supervisor told me I owed a balance that was turned over to collections (news to me) and that as a result I was no longer considered a patient. Wow! I called collections and paid off the balance as I pay my bills. However, I have no desire to ever return to that office. Feels like the place that I thought would take care of me for years to come has no real desire to take care of me. Kind of sad but my trust in that they care is blown. I'll find someone else that feels more like a family of care providers, that really care. Even from the business angle, seems like the supervisor could have informed me I owe a balance and asked if I would like to pay it now as I'll need to do so before being seen. The cold responses to my call sadden me to be honest.

I've been coming here 15 years and hadn't had an issue until today. I have a pretty extreme case of poison ivy and need to see somebody ASAP and the "best" they can offer me is an appointment one month from now. Rude and no effort to help a patient.

I called the morning of to cancel my appointment because I had called Friday but they had closed early so I couldn't cancel my appointment. I get a bill a week later for $50 for "missed appointment". When I had called, the lady who had spoke to me did not mention that they would charge me at all. This is disappointing, would never go here again.

I received excellent care. Everyone was professional and friendly.

It important the Dr's of this practice read their reviews. I did and all the negative reviews were regarding the billing and staff. Due to the fact the Dr reviews was good I took a chance to give a call to make an apt for husband. After calling my insurance they said verify with the practice. I called to make apt and the staff or receptionist was not informed or interested to find out to so I can make apt about my insurance. I called 3 others they were able to check and verify. Made a decision and we have an apt. Your reviews that your staff is rude unaware or don't care is accurate. It sad because the Dr's received good reviews. The reviews is what made me not want to and now I see why. Good luck.

Dr Vallat and indeed the entire staff are absolutely wonderful, giving the very best of medical care and customer service.

Update: I've now received a 4th inaccurate bill. Without going into too much detail, they're essentially just making up amounts to bill patients (applying incorrect adjustments while also claiming to have received nothing from my insurance...so where'd you get the adjustment amount?). And the 'Billing Manager' might be the most unprofessional individual I've interacted with in my life, telling me its 'not her problem' and she has 'too many accounts to deal with'. The doctor was awesome and I’d have loved to return to see her... But their billing department is inept. I’ve received several bills in excess of $200 for services my insurance already paid. I’ve had to spend hours on the phone sorting out the charges and I’m not interested in needing to do that everytime I come here

Dr. Vallat was pleasant to work with, but I had to go back and forth with their billing department for 3 months because they kept "hitting the wrong button" or "forgetting to submit" the insurance claim. I kept receiving the full bill + late fees, warnings about my account being past due, and threats to send the bill to collections. It made the overall experience not worth it and I will not be going back.

Came here because I saw the many great reviews. However, I was not satisfied with my visit. I felt as though the doctor I saw was very dismissive of my concern, and I spent more time waiting for him than the actual time of the appointment which barely lasted about 5 minutes if that long.
