List of Lake Norman Arthritis Specialists's Reviews
I saw Dr. Kirby from the end of 2019 to the middle of 2022. The entire time I was his patient, he made me feel like it's my fault for having RA that's "untreatable." During my last appointment with him, he got up and started walking away as I was still speaking to him. He turned around and said "I don't know what else you want from me, you can start doing pain management if you want." This is just one of the bad experiences I've had with him. He's unprofessional and uncaring about his patients. I've also received inaccurate medical advice. When they decided my RA was "untreatable," the advice became "well... Maybe you don't have RA at all and just fibromyalgia, which we can't do anything about." I've started seeing a new rheumatologist since then and yes, I DO have RA and IT IS treatable. He wasted 2 years of my time, while I had to live with chronic pain. Suffice to say, I don't recommend him at all.
I have been a patient of Dr Kirby's since 2014. Treatment of RA is not an exact science and on top of that I don't always present with typical symptoms. Dr Kirby and his staff have always listened to my concerns and considered all my crazy symptoms and all the possibilities before treating to ensure best and safest treatment. Ultimately they figure it out and get me on the right track and have given me much relief over the years allowing me to continue my career which can be very physically demanding. When I first started my care at AARA my RA was at 95% disease activity. He has treated me to where activity is maintained below 40%. I see this as a HUGE success! I travel 140 miles round trip per visit and would not consider going anywhere else! FANTASTIC physician and STAFF!
Started out with these guys in 2018 for my RA, it wasn't to bad then when they had someone to ask their phone's. They was still slow about getting back to you. But in the last year or so, you can call all you want there office is always closed. I haven't had a infusion for several months, been trying to get in to see .them. Called several weeks ago. I still haven't heard from them. I would go find you a doctor that cares. I had to go on Medicare and it got a lot worse. I think all they care about is private insurance and lining there pockets.my advice is find you someone else to see.
Gave my son poor care. The infusion worked, but it took weeks to get it, all the while they let him swing, didn’t even answer the phone. Poor follow up, he had to chase them down for answers to questions, to make appts. They got dates wrong. Just lame for people in health care, especially working with patients who have chronic conditions that need managed. Was sad to watch him suffer in pain as he tried to pin them down to even answer the phone. He now has a new doctor. Do not recommend this one.
Dr Kirby and his staff are the absolute best!!! Thank you for keeping me healthy!!
Was the worst doctor I have ever dealt with. Rude, condescending and if you end up in the hospital ..good luck as he has no interest in returning calls. He will tell you he decided to leave his last practice to be independent. Folks from former practice will tell you otherwise!
A Wonderful Rheumatologist , Great Staff !
The best rheumatologist I've ever seen. Would recommend him to anyone looking for answers. Goes above and beyond.
I am very pleased with Dr Kirby and his staff. I went to another rumathologist back in March 2017 and was very dissatisfied. Dr Kirby listened and was very compassionate towards me. He made sure I had the appropriate lab work done and finaly gave me an answer to what has been consuming me for the past year. I am very happy to work with him in this new journey. He really wants the best for his patients, you can tell he is there to help. Thank yoy Dr. Kirby.
Worst doctor I've had by far. Won't return calls. Poor communication. does not give me the proper medication. I will for sure not be back there again

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
