Alan G. Finkel's Online Review Report Card

I'm not sure how my visit was as they wouldn't grant me an appointment even after receiving a referral from my provider. I recently experienced a neck injury and have had daily chronic headaches for 30 years. I was told that I am not a patient that is appropriate for an appointment. This was disappointing as Dr. Finkel is widely recommended and I looked forward to his expertise.

I am a chronic migraine patient - I have had them for 30 years. I can only wish that I had met Dr. Finkel sooner than a few years ago. Under his care my migraines have become better managed on less medication and my use of rescue injections/ infusions/ services has declined. Also, Dr. Finkel sees the “Whole Patient”; a critical skill in treating migraines.

I have post traumatic headaches resulting from a car accident, which Dr Finkel specializes in. I was referred to him by my Duke neuroradiologist after she patched 7 spinal fluid leaks in 2013. He has navigated me through low spinal fluid pressure, high spinal fluid pressure, mTBI symptoms and new medical break throughs. He explains every recommendation and my underlying pathophysiology thoroughly and gives me scientific journal articles to read. He listens carefully and shares his experience with other PTHA patients, especially veterans with similar conditions. Before prescribing expensive new medications with unknown insurance coverage he gives me 14-28 day samples to see if they work. He has improved my quality of life 1000%. Before him I was commuting to the Michigan Head Pain and Neurological Institute in Anne Arbor quarterly for HA care, at least he is within driving distance. Many of his patients commute from out of state and I would too if needed. He is the best.

Dr. Finkel helped my wife for years when we lived in NC. He was attentive and knew what she needed. We are moving back to NC and we will be lucky if she can, once again, see Dr. Finkel.

I have been following Dr. Finkel since he was with UNC and currently in his private practice. Everyone has their point of view. I have read one inflammatory review that I do not agree with. If you want to know for yourself how effective Dr. Finkel is as a diagnostician and want to experience patient care from he and his staff, then I suggest you make an appointment . Everyone has a "story" and mine is that Dr. Finkle listens well , answers all of my questions by explaining everything in detail . He offers options for treatment while giving his recommendations based on data and his vast amount of patient experience. Initially more than 15 years ago I had anywhere from 5-20 migraines per month and now I have 0, yes, zero, and those are just some of the reasons I gave him a 5 star rating. Thank you Dr. Finkel!

I’ve seen Dr. Finkle for years. He’s rolled with me through different treatment programs as I’ve aged and also through injury. What I’ve learned is migraines take time to figure out. They morph and no one’s migraine is exactly like anyone else’s. Dr. Finkle’s experience, depth of knowledge and a quirky sense of humor at times has worked for me and I’m grateful for him.

Dr Finkel is willing to listen to patient experience and adapt treatment accordingly. He is an expert in migraine treatment.

Explains everything and is thorough. He looks at different possibilities and with his knowledge, can find out what is is needed to best help you.

What a quack! Just a money hungry narcotic refilling hack. He will prescribe you any narcotic you want. He’ll send prescriptions through the mail. Last I heard you had to get narcotic prescription in person. Not with him! My sister and n law has been seeing him for about 4 years now and is worse off now than she has ever been. If that’s what you want go see him. If you want to become an addict on narcotics and become part of that statistic go see him. If not find someone else anyone else. I wouldn’t go see him if he paid me to come see him. I would give a negative 5 if it had it.

DR FINKEL IS SIMPLY THE BEST.. MY NEUROLOGIST RETIRED AFTER 20 WONDERFUL YEARS OF SERVICE TO ME.. I COULD NOT ASK FOR ANYONE BETTER THAN DR FINKEL TO STEP INTO HIS SHOES.. HE SIT'S DOWN AND TAKES TIME WITH YOU.. YOU HAVE TO GET TO KNOW SOMEONE AND ABOUT THEIR PERSONAL LIFE.. WE ARE WORKING ON DIFFERENT MEDICATION'S AT THIS TIME.. BOTOX IS WORKING REALLY WELL FOR ME AT THIS TIME. AND, THERE IS A NEW MEDICATION OUT AT THIS TIME WE ARE WORKING WITH.. THANK YOU DR FINKEL.. I APPRECIATE YOUR KINDNESS AND DEDICATION TO HELPING OTHERS..
