Horrible experienceI went to him October 2018 he sent me for an MRI he told me I had degenerative disc disease with a herniated L5S1 impacting the right nerve root causing sciatic pain sent me to PT did not helpended up being out of work nearly 4 months returned to work with a lot of pain constantly missing because of flare ups returned to him to seek disc surgery then he does a 180% says he suspected my SacroIlliac joint as the pain generator has me do a series of tests including a mylogram so he diagnosed me with SI joint dysfunctionrecommends fusionafter over 6 months I’m hurting worse than ever I obtained a copy of my mylogram from my family doctor which stated multiple serious problems with my lumbar area but he refused to see me any longerI am currently seeking a second opinion from a neurosurgeon and sadly was forced to apply for SSDIhave been told by experts some of his SI surgeries were unnecessary and misdiagnosedI’m not happy with this surgeon
So glad I found Dr. Geissele. He is an amazing surgeon and his team is excellent. I had spinal fusion four months ago and I’m pain free for the first time in 10 years.
My Opinion Of Dr Alfred E Geissele Alfred E Geissele M.D. Orthopedic Surgery 34+ years experience. This is basically what convinced me a 67 year old male with Post Polio Syndrome to let him do my back surgery L4 L5 Fusion on February 13 2017. This turned out to be the BIGGEST mistake of my life. After a 5.5 hour surgery I woke up in recovery to find I couldn’t move my lower left leg. Dr Geissele said it was being caused by a ‘flare up of my PPS’. PPS is a very slow progressing ailment and DOES NOT HAVE FLARE UPS I ended up having to spend 3 weeks in a rehab center taking rehab twice a day. I went in on a gurney and came out in a wheelchair. Upon coming home I had inhome rehab twice a week for 2 months and today I’m either behind a walker or in my wheelchair. Great work Geissele In April 2018 I consulted another orthopedic surgeon in Hickory about my problem. After a CT Myelogram on my lower back he found the nerve damage at upper L4 and lower L5.

Great work Geissele In April 2018 I consulted another orthopedic surgeon in Hickory about my problem. After a CT Myelogram on my lower back he found the nerve damage at upper L4 and lower L5. After 3 rounds of injections into my lower back there was no change whatsoever. I ask the doctor if the PPS could have caused this and he stated absolutely not because of it’s slow progression. I also asked him if the CT Myelogram and injections had been done shortly after the surgery if my results would have been different. He stated my chances of getting the use of my leg back would have greatly increased. Dr Geissele and his assistant even discussed doing a CT Myelogram but never followed thru with the test. Until this day Dr Geissele has NEVER ASSUMED ANY RESPONSIBILITY for my paralyzed leg. Dr Geissele has single handily destroyed my later years of life. All the plans my wife and I had made to go places and do things with the grandchildren can now only be done on a very limited basis. I made Dr Geissele a promise during the last office visit I had that I would be doing some advertising for him so here it is. IF YOU VALUE YOU HEALTH FIND ANOTHER ORTHOPEDIC SURGEON

Dr. Geissele is a God Send. He did my Lumbar Fusion L4L5 L5 S1 18 yrs ago. Never had any problems or pain after that. He has also done a Cervical Fusion at the C5C6 15yrs ago also a Spinal Laminectomy at L3L4 11yrs ago. I have DDD Degen Disc Disease. I would recommend my friends to Dr. Geissele.
Dr. Geissele takes the time to listen to me and address my concerns. He never acts rushed to see me gone. He has a fantastic bedside manner in his office the hospital.
I first saw Dr. Geissele in April 2017. It was amazing to me how clearly he identified my medical issues and helped me understand my treatment options. I saw Dr. Geisele get things done when no one else could. He is very understanding of everyday situations that contribute issues with treatment plans. I would highly recommend to anyone in need of an orthopedic Dr. His kindness and compassion are way above average and in my opinion he goes above and beyond the call of duty of standard practice
Dr. has extreme knowledge extremely concerned with my back and very polite. He also teaches has gotten hospitals to start new programs.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
