DR WHITAKER IS RETIRED
Elaine Johnson
Great dr and staff
Dr. Whitaker & staff were very nice. That's the end of the good part. I, along with all his other waiting patients, was sent from waiting room to exam room, to waiting room, back to exam room #1, then to exam room #2, back to the waiting room again. 2 hours later, I still hadn't seen the doctor long enough for him to finish my exam and fit me for the contacts that I went for. Go if you have 2 - 4 hours to kill and only if you can get in/out of chairs easily. Not for ppl w/mobility issues.
I am a transplant from upstate NY. I have had glaucoma since the age of 29 and have had wonderful care from specialists in NY. However, I did a lot of research before finding Dr Whitaker. He is very professional and listens and explains well. I am feeling very comfortable that I am getting the best care in this office. I definitely would refer anyone I talk to.
Dr. Whitaker is an awesome eye dr..He is pleasant & professional when treating his patients. He take time to explain all procedures & ensure that the patient understand.
It was one of the best experiences I had at a doctors visit. Dr. Whitaker was professional, and so was his staff. Thank YOU for making me feel so comfortable. Ms. Lenka R.
Dr. Whitaker is an amazing Ophthalmologist! He is very thorough and ensures I get the best attention and treatment for my condition. I have open angle glaucoma as well as cataracts. He just performed cataract removal on one eye. Believe me, he is the absolute BEST.
Dr Roy Whitaker is a great doctor , I really miss him patricing in Savannah ,when ever I had a question or concern,I could call on him and he will return my calls , Thanks for being the great doctor that you are , May God continue to bless you .
While Dr. Whitaker's participation in performing this Federal Aviation Administration eye exam was satisfactory, the overall experience was less than that. I had sent the required forms to the office at least a week ahead of the appointment so the staff would know what had to be filled out. The exam took just over three and a half hours, from the time of the appointment to the time it was over. There was a lot of waiting. I was told the paperwork would be ready the next afternoon. I had never had to wait for it before when I'd had this done at other eye centers, but in this case, it was no big deal because I was in town and could come by the next day. I called then to make sure it was ready, and was told it was. When I got there, I opened the envelope to look over the paperwork, and found that they had filled out NONE of the required paperwork; they had just written on the FAA forms "See attached". That's totally unacceptable for the government, so I had another form made and waited while they filled it out appropriately, which took another hour. When I finally got the correct paperwork, I was informed that the paperwork would cost another $20, which wasn't told to me at the time I made the appointment, and which had never been charged by any other professional in about twelve years of having this done annually. I mentioned the fact that obviously their time is valuable, but so is mine and it was their mistake that the paperwork wasn't done properly, hoping they'd say to forget the $20 charge. The doctor heard every word as he sat a few feet from me when I said it, but the response was not in the customer's favor, and the $20 was taken. I'd say they could learn a little about trying to please the customer by having a little respect for people's time other than their own.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
