List of William O. Young's Reviews
At our annual visit in 2021, my autistic son fought the dilation drops. I imagine that happens often, special needs or not. Dr Young was so rude and obviously irritated. He said that on our next visit I needed to dilate his eyes PRIOR to arriving in the office. We arrived for our 2022 Appt 20 mins early after driving from Thomasville. Upon arrival, I was told that I had to reschedule our visit, because my 12 yo daughter wasn't allowed in office per their absurd Covid policy that I was never given. Keep in mind, WE DILATED MY SONS EYES PRIOR TO ARRIVAL. I mean it when I say choose ANY other doctor. The staff is rude, the doctor is rude. I will never go back.
This has to be one of the worst specialists my son has seen, ever. My son has a long list of special needs, and we have seen more specialists than I can count. At our annual visit in 2021, my autistic son fought the dilation drops. I doubt that he is the only child who has done this, and I'm sure many children without special needs fight the drops too.Dr Young was so rude and obviously irritated. He said that on our next visit I needed to dilate his eyes PRIOR to arriving in the office. That is a key part of this review. We arrived for our 2022 Appt 20 mins early after driving from Thomasville. Upon arrival, I was given a sheet of information to look over and the woman behind the counter vanished. When she returned she had someone with her. This lady told me that she would have to reschedule our visit, because my 12 yo daughter wasn't allowed in the office per the Covid policy that I was never given. This is after mask mandates were ended and life was returning to normal almost everywhere. They literally had a no exceptions and very long list of protocols still in place. No siblings allowed, so we were asked to leave. KEEP IN MIND WE HAD ALREADY DILATED MY SONS EYES USING THE RX William Young required me to use prior to the Appt.My daughter is old enough to stay home alone, or even in the car during this Appt, but it was a "Karen on a power trip" kind of situation. I ripped up my sons detail sheet and told her to remove him as a patient.I called my pediatrician in the parking lot before leaving to get another doctors referral. She told me this happens all the time. "I'm so sorry, unfortunately we hear this a lot. Many of our patients have said they wouldn't return there." I wouldn't go back here if it was the only pediatric ophthalmologist office in the state. It's too bad you can't report a doctor for this kind of stuff, because this place would be gone.If you have a special needs child, I strongly encourage you to look elsewhere for eye care.
Our pediatrician referred us here and we had a great experience. The wait time for an appointment was about 2 months which seemed normal compared to other offices. The office staff was very thorough with explaining office and billing procedures prior to our appointment and were very friendly. Paul was great with my 4 year old during the initial exam and check in. He was very personable and put my daughter at ease. I had heard that Dr young is the best, but not very friendly and I have to disagree. He was great with my daughter. He was quick and efficient but he still spoke to her and was gentle and friendly and interacted with her. He explained everything to me after he finished his exam and addressed all of our concerns. He seemed very happy and friendly. The office was clean and bright and we will definitely go back when needed.
I have taken both of my children here, the staff is thorough and professional. I have confidence in Dr. Young's care.
Single parent turned away for not having someone to watch my baby during my older child's appointment because of their "no sibling policy".
Great Doctor and Great Surgeon. Explained in detail what to expect before and after surgery.
Hmm I'm not sure where to start I was told Great things about this place inset up an appointment and went to the office with my daughter, after being told such great things I was very disappointed, the staff there was rude, pushy and made myself and daughter feel like trash plus they were slow the doctor wasn't very interactive and pushed us off like"here your done get out "feeling. Plus I got the impression they are to good for the area they are in for one they are in a crud part of greenboro that office does not Deserve the awards they have. All of them need to rethink their office and employees. I filed a long compliant with the bbb because of this reason and many others.
I had a few visits with Dr Young prior to have surgery for Adult Strabismus. I felt that Dr. Young took the time to explain the procedure in detail. I had double vision for @ 15 years and after surgery I am seeing straight and it is a relef. The staff was great and I am so appreciative of the results
Dr Young and his staff are amazing as well as the Kid Spec within the office. We are fortunate to hace their knowledgeable staff take care of my 3 little girls. We have been patients of theirs for 6 years and i am very happy with our results. I recommend this place to anyone with children! They accept Medicaid which is a blessing. I only wish we didn't move so far away. We still go there even if it's almost a 3 hour drive. I gladly pay the little extra out of pocket to have their glasses mailed to our home. I highly recommend Dr Young's office.
An awesome doctor that definitely connects with his patients and parents. He works hard to create a pleasent environment and experience.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
