List of Asheville Gastroenterology Associates's Reviews
I liked my experience well you know the nature of the whole procedure notwithstanding. There were many opportunities to mess things up and they avoided all of them I would note that there is some new research out there that indicates that certain kinds of meals can be eaten on the day before yet they require absolute abstinence. So I think maybe they are a bit behind the times but as far as the leadup to and the dayof no complaints about Dr. Rholl or any of the staff or procedure.
I had a good experience with my recent colonoscopy except the day before procedure of having to completely evacuate my bowels but this is a necessary bit of nastiness and no reflection on CMG. Everyone at the facility was friendly professional and punctual. I was in and out in a decent amount of time with the results in hand.
Watch out for extra charges. My wife and I had identical procedures within a week of each other. I was at Carolina Mountain Gastroenterology. She was at Advent. Mysteriously an extra $528 charge appeared on my bill a couple of weeks after the procedure. Advent did not charge an equivalent fee. Moreover my insurance company refused to recognize the charge. I spoke with Carolina Mountain Gastroenterology and they adamantly refused to waive or reduce the charge and continuously threatened my credit report.
Dr Varner has been very professional as well as extremely helpful I believe the doctor saved my life I had hepatitis C and through him I received the costly miracle drug for 24 weeks virtually without cost I have been free of the virus for over 2 years All that and I have to admit I was not the best of patients I would recommend him to anyone in need of a gastroenterologist especially anyone suffering from hepatitis C Stephen Ferguson
I was referred to Carolina Mountain Gastroenterology by Dr. David Onofrey to have an endoscopy due to extreme nausea. It took CMG 2 weeks to return 4 phone calls. I had to call the referral office on 3 different occasions to complain. On top of waiting 2 weeks for them to call to schedule an appointment they couldnt see me for another 5 weeks and that was only to see a PA This place is a joke My husband had been going there for 6+ years for colonoscopys however were both seeking other options now. When you call CMG to leave a voicemail it states do not leave more than one message it delays their response time I guess because they have to listen to a 1520 second voicemail it delays their response time by days at a time. Voice message also says they return phone calls in order of importance. Guess mine and my husbands issues are important enough to return 4 phone calls in 2 weeks when you have nausea so bad you can stand it anymore your desperate. Guess we werent important enough. If you deal with Carolina Mountain Gastroenterology be aware but good luck Maybe your issue will be more important than ours.
Not impressed with this practice. Clinically they are average to slightly below average. I had a condition that required urgent treatment. After speaking with a nurse and leaving two voicemail messages I had to go to my primary care doctor to seek treatment for an obvious bowel problem.
Thanks to the Doctors and crew. They were very nice to me. I can now swallow and breathe without hurting. I had a colonoscopy and endoscopy yesterday. Finally someone listened to me after hurting and getting sick for almost a year. Thank you so much. Would recommend to anyone I know.
The review from Ken L. from San Francisco couldnt be further from the truth. I have been a patient with this practice for years and it is one of the most focused efficient qualified accurate and patient friendly facilities one could ask for. And in a small town like Hendersonville This town is fortunate to have this group of specialists right here. I trust them with my health which is no small thing.
I initially had a good experience but the billing end was terrible. I thoroughly discussed my procedure with Dr. Stamm and all tests that would be done. A financial counselor called and let me know how much it would cost and took a down payment. When I received my bill I had an extra $425 charge nothing additional had been discussed and no additional tests had been performed. When I called no one was at all helpful and acted as if $425 is nothing They just kept repeating over and over that the pricing I received prior to my procedure was just an estimate. I feel robbed and its obvious they could care less. A patient is also a customer and this place definitely doesnt see it that way.
I really appreciate the time that Dr. Varner spends with me during my appointment. Ive found the nurses to be caring and professional as well. Its defintely no fun having Crohns Disease but glad I have found a doctor that I respect and can trust.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
