My husband is 79 years old and Dr. McCluer was the only surgeon who would operate on him. That was nearly six months ago, and my husband and I will forever be grateful to Dr. McCluer for agreeing to do the surgery.
He really took good care of my son in surgery thank you dr mcclure
Dr McClure is passionate about his profession and has a lovely bedside manner. If I still lived in the area I would definitely go back to him for any surgeries I need.
I’ve been seeing Dr McClure for over 12 yrs, he has done multiple surgeries and scopes on me. He has also done surgery on my daughter and sister! We wouldn’t see anyone else! Dr McClure is the best surgeon in or around Catawba co! He truly cares about his patients and listens to them! 5 stars just isn’t enough for him he needs a lot more because he is just that good! I’ve never had a issue with him or any of the staff in his office they are all very nice and caring people!
This was my first surgery ever in my life and DR.McCluer was awesome I could not ask for a better doctor bed side manner was so awesome I was crying and scared before surgery and he reassured me I would be fine and took time walk me threw everything before surgery started… I highly recommend him. If I ever have surgery again I hope to be able use him again.
Nothing but trouble, not even half a year and I’m back where I started. Now I see why people don’t trust doctors and surgeons.
In November, I got referred to him for a hernia. Rude nurses made jokes about getting a hernia for my birthday. I should’ve walked out then and there but I wanted to get back to work. No one could answer any questions that I had. The hernia surgery somehow still happened. Which I was glad to being getting this done and over. 3 days after surgery I feel and heard a really load pop. After which my privates turned black and the nurse insisted it was normal. I went the the er and another doctor who called multiple times and could not get any answers because they were sure something was wrong. Finally got to see McClure and he did a scan said it was a cyst and it would heal. 2 months later still hadn’t healed and I got referred to a urologist who told me it was a hydro cell and to give the surgery time to heal so I can get surgery to fix it. So I have up and went back to work finally. Hernia mesh broke shortly after. So yeah it’s been 5-6 months and I still have a hernia and miscolored swollen privates that make it hurt to walk. I went to a few other doctors who told me to go back to him. So I guess I get to live with this.
I have been seeing him for over two years. He has preformed several surgeries on me. And I am in need of lifetime surgery. I trust him with my life. The best bedside manner I have ever experienced.
excellent, my husband was transferred to Catawba. There was a bed shortage but Dr. McCluer accepted him and a bed was held. It was an emergency surgery. Within just a few hours after admitting he was in surgery. This Dr. was one of the most pleasant people you could meet. He explained everything. He has a great bedside manner. He has a sense of humor and is compassionate. I will definitely recommend Dr. McCluer.
Surgery failed in 3 days, toke 3 weeks to be seen, doc couldn’t care less. Missed 2 months of work when I was supposed to miss 2-3 weeks. Issues still not fixed and other docs refuse to help without a call from him.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
