This place is terrible the nurses are lazyyyyyy most of the CNAs are lazy with bad attitudes They put on a show when someone comes to visit Godforbid you ask for something they look at you like your crazy A lot of the patients here do not get the proper care and attention they need …forget about safety god knows a lot of times these patients are on there own Very sad I hate that I had to even give a star they deserve a negative 0 please don’t send anyone you love here the treatment is less then fair there short staffed and it shows. With how miserable the staff is I know this to be a fact I work first hand here very sad that people are paying good money for there loved ones to be taken care of ….please run as fast as you can from here negative zero that’s what I rate this place
Pennybyrn was home to my Grandfather for 8 years and has been my second home for 22 years. As an employee and family member, I have experience all facets of life here, and there is nothing negative or lacking about the care given to residents and our team. The culture and spirit here is amazing, the care is excellent, and the compassion is abundant. Please do not hesitate to contact Pennybyrn for the highest quality of care for residents, patients, and employees.
Unfortunately, there isn't 0 stars because I didn't want to give 1 star. I have so much to say that I can't put into words. First, please don't send anyone you love and care about to this place. My mother went into the rehab facility to help gain her strength from a back issue. She was so excited to go to Pennybyrn and get the therapy she needed to be able to walk well enough to return home. She had friends that had lived in Pennybyrn and thought the place was wonderful. In January, Mom went into Pennybyrn, alert and no problems other than her back. When her physical therapy began, she told us she had walked up and down the hall, up stairs and how the nurses were telling her she was doing great. She said "I know I'll be coming home soon". She said this for several days then one day she said "they won't let me take therapy in the hall anymore" and they were doing her therapy in her room. Everyday after, we would ask if she had therapy in her room and she would say no. I should have ask questions then but I trusted them. For the remainder of her time in Pennybyrn she did therapy in her room. We talked to Mom several times a day and her friends would speak with her as well. After a week she started getting hoarse, wanted to sleep all the time and we could hardly get her to carry on a conversation other than for her to say she wanted to come home. Also, that she had things to tell us about Pennybyrn when she did get home. We picked Mom up on 1/23/2021 and when they wheeled her, I barely knew her. She looked like a different person. It took her 20 minutes to get into the car and she couldn't carry on a conversation. We had to call EMS to help us get her into the house because she was so weak she fell to her knees. She couldn't carry on a conversation, couldn't walk at all and we had to feed her like a baby. We had EMS out 2 times after that and on 1/26 she was admitted into the hospital. One guess...yes COVID. That explains having to do the therapy in her room, having to keep the door shut all day/night and suddenly not getting return calls from the nurses/staff. The first few days we spoke were able to speak with the nurses but soon after we didn't get return calls...NOTHING. The staff knew someone in the facility had COVID. The least they could have done was inform us. My Dad tested positive for COVID 5 days later. Mom went in on 1/11, fully herself and after testing negative for COVID and came home on 1/26, testing positive within 2 days and passing on 1/31. I blame Pennybyrn completely for my Mom not being here. Now I need to pay her bill...after all this, they charge us $40/day for a private room. They knew Mom passed away and we didn't receive as much as a phone call, sympathy card, NOTHING. I guess I shouldn't have expected that when they didn't care for her when she was in there. I could post before and after pictures and you would see how badly she was treated but that won't bring my Mom back. Pennybyrn took my Mom, my best friend, my everything from me. I would highly urge NOT sending a loved one here.
I would highly recommend NOT sending someone you love to the rehabilitation facility. They did not give my mother the care we expected and hoped for. She was happy with her physical therapy in the hall and stairs for several days but then was isolated to her room for therapy. She had to stay in her room with the door shut. She went in with back issues, came out with COVID and passed a week later. They knew. Horrible place.
Amazing location.
Great management and awesome staff!
My stepmom and late father have lived there since it opened. Every staff member I met has been great. Food is good, too. An amazing home and community.
Good
It is a God given place. We love the Lord.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
