Roc A. Mccarthy's Online Review Report Card

Dr. McCarthy is, by far, the most compassionate and empathetic physician I’ve had the good fortune to be treated by. He explained everything in a clear and concise manner. It’s rare to find a physician who has a personal touch with quality medical care. I’m certainly aware of Dr. McCarty’s busy schedule but he never makes me feel rushed. His gentle demeanor and obvious care for his patients are attributes that are important to me. A planned procedure was scheduled however he was able to perform a less invasive and less expensive one that speaks volumes about his character. Dr. McCarthy speaks of family with a gentle smile ~ it’s nice to see that personal side. In addition, his staff is beyond kind and caring professionals ~ Wendy, Sandy, Michelle to name a few. In closing, I’d like to mention that I became aware that the renowned Dr. Roc McCarthy, the rare times he’s able to leave the office before his staff, will always say thank you and to let them know he appreciates them!

I have had Dr. McCarthy as my urologist for the past 9 years. I find he and his staff are top notch professionals. I credit Roc for saving my life - prior to conducting a routine prostate reduction, he suggested that I allow him to also identify an anomaly in my right ureter that showed up in my CT scan. He did so and that spot turned out to be a T3 tumor which was subsequently removed. I eventually needed a cystectomy which he also performed. I have appreciated his attention to detail as well as hearing my many questions and allowing my input. I highly recommend his practice!

Dr. McCarthy is a world class Urologists; probably one of the best there is. I have been his patient for around 8 years and I could not ask for a better doctor.

From expertise to manner to communication, I could not be happier. Having a prostate cancer history, I found Roc's approach and counsel low key, real and encouraging.

On February 26, 2019, I had a kidney stone removed by Dr. McCarthy. He told me that I had to have the stone removed or I would lose the function of my kidney. I followed up with two other urologists and was told Dr. McCarthy lied to me. Additionally, I could have had the stone removed by Lithotripsy but Dr. McCarthy never recommended it. He makes more money if he performs laser surgery. The surgery was agony as was the stent he placed in me. The painful experience continued when Dr. McCarthy's assistant Margaret Fleishman removed the stent. She was late for the appointment, could not get the equipment to work and could not find the stent. she turned a 2 minute process into 9 minutes of agony. I have filed a complaint with the North Carolina Medical Board against Dr. McCarthy and his staff. I am posting this review, and filing the complain with the Medical Board, to help patients avoid the agony I experienced. Dr. McCarthy has forgotten his medical oath to "do no harm to patients."

Dr McCarthy has a great bedside manner. Dr McCarthy and his staff truly care about their patients!

This is possibly the worst medical practice I have ever experienced. The support staff, with the exception of the office was top notch. Dr. McCarthy was the epitome of hubris, a throw back to the days when Doctors confused themselves with deity. He even suggested that I undergo a procedure that my medical records stated would be life threatening. Then his office staff could not navigate a simple medical order, one that was written by his NP, and refused to submit this order to a provider that supplied my medical devise needs. Lastly, they scheduled an appointment, then called me to explain that another provider was needed to issuing the above mentioned order and that they had no record of the appointment they had scheduled me for the previous day. As of now, no order for needed supplies, and they simply passed over me. I am on my own to find another Urologist. All this, it appears, because I chose not to consider a surgery that likely could have has fatal consequences. Disgusting!

He is a great player doctor

Dr McCarthy is a wonderful provider/surgeon. Would recommend him to anyone looking for the best of the best in urologist.He treated my husband for bladder cancer and he has had the best care we could have ever hoped for !

I found dr McCarthy when I was diagnosed with prostate cancer. That said, you will never see this dr because you want to, but rather only whencircumstances make it necessary. When I first met him I found him to be very personable and caring. He took a long while explaining my options which were few, but he was very upbeat and confident, which pleased me. All in all, due to space limitations, I found him to be an excellent physician, but more important, a real good man.
