The doctors bill you for every step there are also huge facility charges. Bills are tremendous...
THIS HOSPITAL HAS THE WORSE AND LONGEST WAIT TIMES IN ALL OF CHARLOTTE AND SURROUNDING AREA. AND I MEAN ALL NOVANTS ARE LIKE THIS They dont care about making people wait ridiculous wait times. They lie and say theres no rooms and we got alot of medics even when you yourself came in by medic This whole hospital system is unbelievably terrible when it comes to the ERs. Please do not go here or else you WILL wait hours and hours.
Wife spent one night after hip replacement. Without all the details every time she called the nurses station for something there was no follow through. I walked the halls to get help when needed. It was topped off when they said we were ready for discharge at 10AM. We finally left a 3PM. Chaos and confusion poor communications and apathy are a toxic recipe for a hospital.
Had to take my fiancé to the emergency room on Sunday evening around 8pm and had a horrible experience. He was taken back quickly which I am thankful for but everything after that was so slow. He had a CT scan that night and we waited until almost 2 am for results. Then he was admitted to a room where I was told would be a couch so I could stay the night. There was not. It was such a small room with just a recliner so I had to leave. The night shift nurse and tech were WONDERFUL but the day time shift on Monday not so much. Everything was slow. My fiancé pressed the button on the remote for a nurse a few times got an answer of what do you need he would explain then no one would come. I had to go out to the desk and ask for help. He had another IV port put in his left arm because the first one they put in his right arm in the ER wasnt working properly. They werent using the left one for anything and it was starting to hurt. He told the nurse and she said shed be in in a minute to take bt out. She didnt. The tech finally came in and he mentioned it to her and she said its a port we cant take it out do you want ice He said it hurt again so she said shell see if she could take it out. She eventually did but the lack of care and urgency all day was horrible. He had another CT scan around 1130. We never got those results. No one ever said anything to us about them. Then he was told hed have an MRI after lunch... that turned into late afternoon then after dinner then we questioned if it would even happen. Finally I asked if we would get those CT results from the morning and the tech told me to check the My Health app. A doctor never reviewed the results with us. Finally he got an MRI around 9pm. We literally waited ALL DAY in that room. He could go on walks but only around the 8 rooms in the CD section with no windows so it was very confined. The doctors were all super nice and the night staff was wonderful. But the waiting continued. We waited until almost 2am to get the MRI results and discharged. Needless to say it was a bunch of waiting for nothing and no answers. Will definitely be driving uptown to Atrium next time.ALSO he got a follow up phone call today Friday after being discharged Tuesday at 2am to schedule an out patient neurologist appointment. The whole time we were there they said it was urgent because its his brain the next available appointment.... AUGUST seriously? Again lack of urgency. Do not recommend.
No one wants to visit the ER but this place sure beats the heck out of some of the staff we have enjoyed at CMC Union in Monroe I feel like we got in and out as quickly as can be expected seeing how we had 3 children suffering with food poisoning severe diarrhea and dehydration. 5 stars is sufficient based on the other reviews of their mistreatment of patients. Why can we not just be good decent and kindhearted people anymore? Especially those of us who work in the medical field I could never have such an evil spirit to treat another human being but certainly NOT a patient of mine so terribly so poorly and so harshly
Very professional and caring staff
Its was the worst experience I have ever seen. 5 hours later only 6 or 7 people in the waiting room and still no results. I have never reviewed anything on YELP but this was so bad I had to.
I am appalled at my treatment tonight by the 2nd shift 3rd floor staff. I went to tell them my mother had been waiting over 8 minutes to be helped to the bathroom for a bowel movement. There were 4 people at the desk talking and the blonde says is her light on. I said she spoke to someone who said they would send someone. After another 3 minutes a nice CNA came. I went back to say thank you to the four at the desk they all became quiet and not one of them acknowledged me at all. This is my first experience with rude hospital staff. No wonder you have such bad reviews.
I am a chronically ill patient and have now had two visits to this facility which they were not able to keep up with the demands of health care for patients. Foremost the last time that I visited I waited in the lobby for 3 12 hours and when I finally saw a doctor he wanted to run additional tests which would have taken an additional 2 + hours. The relevance of that visit was the fact that it was prepandemic. Today I arrived in tears barely able to move my headsuffering from either a severely infected tooth or a horrific case of TMJ. Having dealt with my health issues there are some things that happen to me at the same time each year that I now know to expect it although I havent created a way to prevent the episode. I waited for about an hour to complete blood work and vitals. That wasnt the hard part the fact that I had three additional hours on the other side of the bloodwork unacceptable. I sat in the waiting area and cried for three hours straight. At the end of that time I was visited by a person entitled Guest services representative... I may not understand that role since herhis presence doesnt help the patient with anything other than constantly being asked how theyre doing. My guess is if the patient was doing well would they really be in the ER? Nonetheless for three hours straight I cried and when she visited with me she asked what my pain levels were I told her that the pain was on a 45....There wasnt a number I could even think of. I couldnt believe that a facility that bears the name Novant would ever be spoken or thought of in this way. Little did I know she went back to tell the nurses what I stated. At the end of that three hours of tears my daughter arrived to pick me up. When she walked in I began walking out and was asked to sign a formrefusing care. I gladly signed the form since I felt refused for care already anyways. After signing the form and on the way out of the facility I was called again by a nurse at the station. She literally called me over to tell me that I could get a permanent disability and the form I signed stated that. I really dont care at this pointim already permanently disabled and if it gets worse because of noncare I would certainly pursue whatever actions necessary. She further tells me that if I go to another facility the wait time would be about the same since all the hospitals were backed up. I decided to go to a particular Atrium. Upon arrival I felt absolutely horrible. My blood pressure at that point was 145110. If I left Novant at 340 I arrived at the other facility by 355 and had already been seen by a physician and given meds prescribed medications and on my way to pick up prescriptions by 430. I felt like a fool for sitting in that lobby crying my eyes out in pain to no avail. They had access to my medical charts and they knew that I am a heart patient blood pressure patient lupus patient and a number of other illnesses since several Novant doctors follow my regular medical care. I did not have to tell them my chest feels like it was going to burst in order for them to do the right thing Additionally I watched them allow an elderly lady lay out on a couch in the waiting room which was never disinfected prior to her laying there. In addition to the comment about permanent disability I observed the guest rep tell that nurse that I was the one you were supposed to get medicine for. That let me know that they knew that my issue needed to be addressed but every person present refused to provide the care needed. As I go through these reviews and looked at the attitudes that I saw from several staff members it is very telling. Perhaps this facility thinks they are helping more than hurtingthat would be ridiculous cocky and absolutely delusional. To fail one patient is to fail them all. Not being able to manage well under stress or have a lobby full of adults crying their eyes out is disrespectful to state the least and it certainly isnt the same system that I grew to like and at one point love.
Everyone is supportive and friendly They have respect and caring toward their patients.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
