I never do this...but it has to be said about Mint Hill Primary Care/Atrium. A little back story may be necessary to explain why I came to this point with them, so it may not be brief, but I will be brutally honest. 2014- I enter as a new patient to see Dr. Whelan (respiratory illness)-which I'm guessing he never saw on the chart. He walks into my room- late- sits down frustrated and said "sorry- everyone is hacking up a lung today- what can I help you with?" I laugh. Tell him I'm hacking up a lung. He apologizes. I let it go because I'm a surgical nurse. I get it. He writes me a script for antibiotics- two weeks later I'm worse and in urgent care with pneumonia- they wrote me different script that actually worked for the type of infection I had...she based it on the color of my mucus. Smart people at urgent care. The next time I went in- I saw Dr. Marc Harvey...because, hey--they don't care, and neither did I . It's the local Dr. Right down the street so I just chose them. Same scenario. Antibiotics and steroids that didn't work- got pneumonia again that the Blair Road urgent care fixed later. Next visit- I saw Dr. Jenny Chen. I made the mistake, because she IS nice, of telling her my personal issues at home at the time (postpartum, digestive, sleep issues compounded by stress)- BOOM. That opened up the door for about a year and a half of them ignoring my suggestions that I had digestive allergies/ gut issues and instead, pushing the idea that I had anxiety and depression that needed medication. I refused the antidepressants at first. Then I took a prescription- got it filled- but NEVER took them. I just knew that wasn't it. She didn't like that. I stopped going to their office for help with anything after Dr. Chen read my abdominal/gallbladder scans to me one day and told me I didn't have a gallbladder- which I do ... Dietary changes, mind body exercise, eating clean , whole food, plenty of water...plus the pandemic kept me away from the Dr.'s office for over two years. I haven't need them. Been happy and healthy.Last week- I did need them. I made an appointment for the first time in forever to get a TB skin test for employment. I showed up for the 9:40am appointment at 9:25am just as they reminded me to do via text twice. I check in and WAIT until 9:55- only to be called up by the RUDE lady at the desk who told me- unapologetically- that Dr. Chen hadn't seen me for a checkup in so long- that they couldn't give me the TB skin test without a checkup. I left- furious. They stole my time. And essentially penalized me for being healthy for too long . I called back and spoke to Landon- who is the only person in their office who is courteous. I asked him to have the office manager AND Dr. Chen call me. As of yesterday- I'm no longer a patient of Mint Hill Primary Care because they DO NOT practice healthcare. They're simply practicing policy and procedures there. Nothing intimate, nothing is patient focused. Just because they're local- or because they're doctors-it doesn't mean they're the BEST advocate in the area for your health. Better healthcare may be just 15 minutes down the road- and worth every second of the drive. And if you're wondering...no one ever called me back...but I don't expect them to, either. Be well and do better for yourselves by avoiding this practice. Take it from a nurse!! You deserve better.
Very attentive
Horrible place will never go back there ever again!!!!! Jennifer haugen is the absolute worst!!!!!!!!!!! front desk receptionists are very unprofessional and judgemental I'm so sick of these doctors offices not caring about my health and mental state.
I recently moved to the Charlotte area and needed to select a new family physician. I saw Dr. Whalen and was very pleased with my first visit. He is professional, knowledgeable and kind. So I have a new physician.
My wife and I recently had to find another doctor due to retirement. We were very impressed with Dr. Chen's attention to detail and incredible outgoing personality. Family medicine needs more doctors like Dr. Chen and we both feel that our health is in very good hands with her.
Missed seeing Dr. Chen in person during Covid. Nice to be connected again. She is very proactive, supportive and understanding. Thank you Dr. Chen and staff for hanging in there during these difficult times you are the best.
A very friendly and professional clinic.
I had a great experience I was checked in and called back in time. The Doctor went over my entire medical history. I felt very comfortable and the entire experience was great.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
