Outer Banks Family Medicine Nags Head West's Online Review Report Card

A three hour wait. Half people outside waiting and other half waiting inside. No Idea how long you would need to wait. Finally saw RN Tammy, then PA Hattie McCall. I had complicated allergies so she had to consider consequences regarding how I would be treated. Given good advice on how to proceed but no real immediate results. Disappointed but regard her knowledge of doing no harm. Glad I went in. Everyone working hard to their best ability even though the were really busy. Call before going if you can for wait time.

When I first arrived to check in the nurse behind the desk asked me why I was there and I told her I didn't feel well. She pressed, "exactly why are you here?" So I very quietly told her my symptoms. Meanwhile there's a guy standing right behind me listening to every word. She gives me paperwork to fill out and on the top is a place I can write why I'm there so I simply state that I'm not feeling well. Another nurse comes charging out into the packed waiting room and very loudly repeats what I've written on my form and tells me I will have to wait outside. So I ask why and she starts calling out symptoms. I quietly tell her I told the nurse why I was there when I checked in and this girl asks me to tell her. Meanwhile everyone in the waiting room, ten people, are intently listening because she's made such a scene. I asked her if I had to announce to the whole waiting room why I was there and she said no. It was the most humiliating medical atrocity I've suffered in quite some time. Whatever happened to HIPAA? Does that not apply to this place? I certainly hope my visit with the doctor fares better than my waiting room experience but that remains to be seen. Stay tuned!

Every staff member is incredibly rude and it seems like they hate doing their job. We waited for 2 hours, outside the building because they wouldn't allow me to wait inside with my fiancé. She was treated with nothing but contempt, and we filed a formal complaint with the North Carolina Medical Board against one of the doctors for inappropriately touching and grabbing her. Do not come here, you're better off using WebMD to diagnose yourself than coming into this practice.

I am so grateful to this place. I have a prolapsed disc in my lower back that was exacerbated on our trip and thus needed to be seen for my standard shot of torridol. Every single person I interacted with here was kind and helpful. I was especially grateful to the doctor who asked if I wanted to also try a steroid in addition to the torridol. This was a game changer and my back is feeling so much better. I thought the rest of my vacation was ruined but now I can actually enjoy the last remaining days thanks to them! Thank you all so much!

Horrible wait time even in the off-season waited for over an hour and a half to be seen better off if it's an emergency go to a vet

Unfortunately had to take my son in for a sickness. From checkin until seeing someone took a normal amount of time. Everyone was friendly and the folks there were very professional. The gave him some medicine for his symptoms and then did something we don't get back home - they watched him to see how he reacted. These folks care. They got our vacation back on track and I can't say enough how much I appreciate the.'

Took my Mom with Alzheimer's in for care on July 4th last year. Amanda NP and entireStaff were wonderful. Mom was extremely difficult to handle but they treated her quickly and compassionately. (Had originally gone to Hospital ER with Mom, waited in room 3.5 hours and never saw doc so Mom walked out).I was so impressed with Amanda aturgent Care when we moved here she became my husband and my provider. (No physician anywhere in OBX was accepting new patients). Anyway, I have had only positive experiences here and as a retired RN, feel confident in the staff.

Nothing "urgent" about this place. Granted we came during tourist season. But it took an hour to get checked in. My kid had a sizeable fish hook caught in his foot. Been here since 1:30pm and still waiting an 1:15 minutes. After 2-1/2 hours of waiting we were told we still had 5 people ahead of us. We walked out. Place is clown feet. Don't call yourself an urgent care facility if there is absolutely no urgency to your practice. We walked into the ER across the street. We were in and out in an hour.

I went to Outer Banks Urgent Care two days before Christmas. The previous evening I could tell my throat was irritated, which concerned me, since I had just gotten over a cold a few days earlier and was feeling much better. Fearing Strep or something else, I wanted to be safe rather than sorry and not risk feeling worse on Christmas. I come from a medical family and I'm a germaphobe to boot, so I am very skeptical when it comes to receiving care. Outer Banks Urgent Care in Nags Head was extremely professional with friendly service from the receptionists to nurses to doctors. They took the time to listen to my concerns and promptly diagnosed my Strep. While I was being escorted to my examination room, I saw nurses scrubbing down and sanitizing the room beside mine. Everything here is top-notch. My wait was quite short (20 min. tops?), and I know wait times can really fluctuate from day to day. In summary, I would definitely recommend Outer Banks Urgent Care and would definitely return if the need arises, regardless of any wait time. I'm so glad I didn't head to a Minute Clinic instead.
