List of Port Health | Nags Head Clinic's Reviews
The Port Health Nags Head has been a blessing for many.. there is always bad with the good, but in general they have helped many..including myself, it's not only a place for recovery, or medications, but there is some great counselors that I can attest have helped me work thru many issues over the years, and they are not just there if you have a mental issue, or are in to help a drug addiction..but they also offer great groups that can help women (and men)in toxic relationships, help for using life skills in situations that you cannot do alone, there their for grief counseling.. the groups are for those who sign up weekly and if needed one on one counseling sessions are available.. its not always been easy, and if your new and the 1st experience isn't what you like, remember that's why there is more than 1 person to help you, everyone has different personalities so don't give up or be angry, they also want to help you find the right person that you will get the best experience and help from... I appreciate the front office staff.. Mrs Norma, and others are friendly and helpful..the Dr is wonderful and will do his best if you do need medication to get you on the correct ones to help your condition and help you if you are able to get off as well.. the entire staff have been a blessing for me.. thru the good and bad times.. I recommend you call 1st, for if new you will need to do a intake which is very thorough. I also want to point out they are Covid careful and it's always clean and sanitized as a immune compromised patient I appreciate that. Thanks to all I've known who have helped me over the years. Your top stars to me.
The staff has been great for me for years and they are a great support with whatever you need!
Extremely unprofessional. They have stood me up for several appointments and their staff often can’t be arsed to help you out. They give mental health professionals a bad name.
This place, this place is horrible! The people that answer the phone are not helpful and are very condescending! I would NEVER recommend ANYONE going to this establishment!
You are told if you need help sooner than your next appointment to call only to be cut down by the receptionist.
I would like to take this time out to thank Dr. Phil and my therapist Rebecca. When I started 8 months ago I was real depressed, tired, stressed, and my mind was going a mile a minute. I'm now in a better place. Thank you for all you do and continue to do. I wish Rebecca all the best as she moves on in her career. Thank you Dr. Phil for finding the right meds for me.
As I sit here, on hold yet again, this being the fifth year of contacting PORT on behalf of a multitude of people whom I wish had the means to use literally any other service, I find myself unable to not start writing this review as I wait (currently at 70 minutes with no reply).Angel Dawn, I don't know who you are, but clearly you're either so far into your own ego that you're oblivious to the world around you, or you're incapable of realizing that if the majority are finding a problem with something, perhaps the problem is with that something and not with the people.Honestly, this place is a pox on anyone trying to get actual mental help. While I can't speak for the addiction counseling, I can speak first hand about their inability to help with mental health issues, both for myself and for others whom are my family and friends that have gone.PORT is a relentless onslaught of inadequacy; a program filled with 'counselors' whom have no experience dealing with any issues beyond addiction (and most likely, based on their inability to deal with mental health issues, not even being properly equipped to deal with that). They use a blanket solution to all problems that have been expressed, by myself and several others, similar to using a package of band-aids to treat everything from a scratch to a torn off limb--PORT counselors practice using the 'duct tape' of mental health solutions, if you will. And as I'm either talking to one of the older receptionists, who are cantankerous to everyone they interact with, or one of the new receptionists, who hold a position with a rollover rate so massive I no longer find it necessary to learn their names, I try to tell myself that this is a non-profit organization and, as with most other things in life, you get what you pay for. However, I can't help but feel that actively hurting those you're supposed to be helping is actually worse than the price tag of 'free'. After all, the payment for some is their time and mental health, and if it was possible to come in with receipt to get a return for both, I'm positive their company would go out bankrupt within a month from the returns.
I have attended groups there for a long time. I used to take their services for granted and blame others for my failures but then I grew up. I understand today that I get out of something exactly what I put into it. The more effort on my part, the greater the reward. I am very pleased with my experience... I have been a Port patient in Wilmington and Nags Head, and have found the Nags Head Staff to be very dedicated and caring. The counseling and educational services will totally change your life IF you want it changed. Openmindedness and willingness are indispensable. The teacher will appear when the student is ready to learn... I have had nothing but positive experiences at the Nags Head office. I feel that the negative reviews are retaliatory and posted by a few who, perhaps, were either not ready to change or are not being honest with themselves about their part in whatever situation that led to their dismissal... 5 star service but success depends on the patient's attitude and level of participation.
None of these people care about you period. No one answers the phones. If you are even THINKING of getting involved in this place, DON"T!
Took them for ever to answer the phone

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
