Ive been going here for years and I dont think the man has ever looked me in the eye. Im fact he always treats me like I am burden on his time but I guess Im sick enough to take his pills and return to see him every three months
Both doctor Champey and his technician were very thorough. This is the first time in 15 years that I was diagnosed by a neurologist that was competent. The shock treatment to detect nerve damage was an eye opener Great job
Everybodys so nice and make u feel comfortable
I saw Champney in earlier July. He ordered a CT scan and then a MRI after my visit to his office . His office called after the tests to tell me that I had a meningioma tumor in the brain. My followup with him was scheduled for 27 Sep 60 days after the test. Just before the scheduled appointment the office called and moved the appointment to 31 Dec.5 months after the tests. In other words his office told me that I have a brain tumor and Champney will see me in 5 months to tell me about the tumor. Uncaring is too kind a description unprofessional is probably better
Felt as if I was an inconvenience to him. Was not willing to listen and cut me off the entire time while talking. This is the kind of experience that makes people not want to see doctors again. I called my PCM to suggest never recommending him to anyone.
I was hit by someone who was going 60 to 70 mph. My husbands back was broke and I was hit in the head by a water fountain. After the people in the ER sent me home with an antihistamine for anxiety I wailed in agony vomiting for two days. In order to get help with the occipital nerve which was inflamed I had to drive to Duke. My husbands neurologist at the VA who was on loan from Duke took one look at me and said oh my God go right across the street to Duke. After several visits at Duke I was told to see a neurologist. I Saw doctor Champey once and then had an EEG. The EEG came back with some abnormalities. I was also sent to have cognitive testing. Several of the tests came back very low normal. I had to wait 5 months to get the results of the EEG due to the hurricane and appointments being pushed back for vacations for Dr. Champey. Dr. Champeya own report says that my EEG results are suggestive that I have a lesion on the left temporal lobe. The hospital says there is none from their CT scan. There is one. I could find it. I also had a friend who professionally read CT scans for 30 years look at my scan and she found it. But he wanted to argue about whether or not she was a doctor. Apparently his diagnosis despite the fact that I got hit by somebody who pushed my trunk into the backseat of my car and broke my husbands back is I need to see a psychiatrist for a year. Run. This to me smacks of the early century misogynist attitude of lets send the little woman off to the sanitarium and sterilized for being emotional after she got hurt. This mentality is dangerous. My mother started having headaches then seizures and was told to go and lose weight. Her neurologist told her she needed a psychiatrist because she was attentionseeking. She died 18 months later from a tumor in her brain the size of a grapefruit. If they had found it at the time she would have lived. My oldest cousin also a woman had a tumor on her pituitary and developed acromegaly. For over a decade they told her there was nothing wrong with her and sent her to a psychiatrist while she was having some kind of seizures. One of my friends started having seizures after being on Mirena. They told her that she was making it up. She was a security guard complete with a gun and passing out in the middle of her duties. They sent her to a psychiatrist. They still tell her she isnt really having seizures and falling down. They told all of us that our issues were psychosomatic and sent us home.If you want a doctor thats actually going to listen to you and help you figure out whats wrong this isnt the one. I think its the whole Carolina East system. Their ER doctor didnt check my pupils sent me home with a concussion with no help after treating me badly and her nurses were laughing at me. Then I went to my GP who was on vacation and they had to hand me off to someone else. It took me months to get anybody to see me and help me. Would you like to know who it is that does take me seriously and help me? Duke. I have to drive to Duke to get help and to get people to take me seriously. They can look at the problems and treat the problems instead of sending me off to a psychiatrist for a year. Once again if you really want to be helped RUN This is not the doctor that will listen to you and help you.Oh and by the way would you like to know why I was stressed on the psych eval? My roof fell in during a hurricane. Insurance company said they werent going to pay for it as I was driving to the appointment. Has nothing to do with the freaking accident. On top of all that I keep seeing doctors just dont give a s. Im attached to my nerves and I know what my body is telling me.
We met with Dr. Champey on April 1 regarding my husbands dementia. Upon entering the room he identified himself and shook our hands. He was thorough and pleasant asking questions and very patient with my husbands slow responses and gave him a good medical exam. He prescribed medicine explaining how it would work ordered brain scan and a follow up appt and told us to call should we have any questions. He and the staff were nothing less than professional. Very happy with their care.

He was a very good help to me He was very kind and was not rude
I saw Dr. Champey today. I felt he was very thorough with his questions and explanations. He took time to listen and was nice to talk to. I did not feel rushed or blown off. He explained his immediate plan and the potential longterm plans. Id highly recommend him. Also all of office staff nurses and lab techs I interacted with were happy and welcoming. Overall it helped put me at ease during a stressful time with an unknown and scary health issue.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
