I have been a patient of Dr. Thordsen for about 10 years. I have the utmost trust and faith in his knowledge and treatment techniques.

I never have to wait very long to be seen upon my arrival. The staff is very pleasant and Dr. Thorsden is wonderful! If I have a question, Dr. Thorsden takes time to explain.

Dr. Thordsen and his staff are exceptional. I recently moved to the area from San Antonio and didn't know anything about the practice. My concerns were instantly alleviated. Outstanding treatment and care, they also have conversations with you so you know exactly what to expect from the treatment. If I could give 6 stars I would....

Dr. Thordsen is awesome. My retina detached and I was totally freaked out about it. He calmed me down, came into the office on both Saturday and Sunday just to check on me and then performed a successful surgery. Since then the post-op care has been tremendous. I feel fortunate I ended up with him as my surgeon.

I have been treated previously in New York by a Doctor I trusted and was concerned upon moving here I would not find a Doctor that would compare. Dr Thordsen is not only someone I completely trust he has improved my condition. He is caring and concerned. Between Dr Thordsen and his office staff they make what could be a very uncomfortably monthly procedure comfortable. I highly recommend him.

I was diagnosed with a detached retina and Dr. John Thordsen at NC Retina worked efficiently and effectively to repair the detachment without the use of surgery. He and his friendly staff have taken good care of me and preserved my vision.

Dr. Thordsen performed surgery to repair a macular hole in my left eye in the summer of 2012. Something went wrong and I suffered eye damage which left me with double vision. I see two images, one solid, one ghostlike, with the ghost image being somewhat larger and floating above and slightly to the left, angled downward. A week following the surgery, at my follow up appointment, I tried to talk to Dr. Thordsen about my issues. In a session that lasted no more than a few minutes, he dismissed my concerns, said there was no possible way it could be related to the surgery, told me to try eyedrops. That was that. This was just the beginning of quite a distressing time as I sought a solution from other doctors. I tried eyedrops, new contacts, new glasses. Three doctors later, I was referred to a leading specialist at Duke Eye Center, where in March 2013, I finally received both a diagnosis (misalignment caused by an error during surgery) and a partial solution, involving prism lenses to amend the diplopia. My vision is still inconsistent, based on lighting and fatigue, but at least with prism lenses I am not as limited as I was following that first surgery. I understand that surgical mistakes can happen, but I will never, never forget the way Dr. Thordsen refused to consider my concerns, instead dismissing me with “try some eyedrops.”
