Like others have said BEWARE. There's a reason you can get an appointment quickly. I went in with an elbow/upper arm pain and he immediately diagnosed as shoulder and injected a cortisone shot. He never read my chart or asked any questions. I solution fits all. I'm diabetic and it is extremely dangerous/deadly to administer a cotrizone shot. My blood sugars skyrocketed. A first year intern should know this. Stay away. I don't know how he passed medical school without this basic knowledge. I would be scared to death to have him perform surgery.

Had ACL reconstruction and meniscus repair with Dr. Li in July 2022. He is very professional and did a great job. I have had no issues and he was able to explain everything to me and gave me all available options regarding surgery. I would recommend him as a surgeon!! Great work!!

Beware! Better options out there. I’m doing you a favor - read the other reviews out there.

Run! So many bad things to mention -

I had my shoulder surgery in November 21 by doctor Li. I took about 7 months to get where i am now. I want thank you doctor Li for giving my life back by fixing my shoulder. Thank you for taking away all my exhaustion of pain. I am able to lift my arm, play with my grand child and can do daily chores independently. May god bless you and your family.

Really I’m very happy. Dr. Ryan Li is a great surgeon! Recently my son had a surgery on the knee, it was approximately 2 months ago and my son has recovered on it 85%. Thanks Dr Li for being a excellent surgeon! His work speaks for him. I recommend him.

The VA directed me to Wake Orthopaedic and Dr. Li for my shoulder replacement. My experience with Dr. Li and all of the staff was superb. I now have over 90% range of motion and NO PAIN!

The damage to my shoulders was well beyond his ability. He should have referred me to a more qualified surgeon. I now have two useless arms.

Terrible experience . He didn’t listen. He came in telling me what he thought instead of hearing my issues. He was rude and dismissive. He behaved as if he hadn’t read my chart by asking me ridiculous questions like,” have you been to see an Orthopaedic surgeon?” How could I do that when I was just in the ER for this ? When I managed to get a word in edgewise, He had nerve enough to tell me my symptoms were wrong. How can it be wrong if I am feeling it? I felt condescended to and like he thought I was making it up. He chastised me for not trying hard enough when he told me to push against his hand. I couldn’t do it with my injured arm! I WAS trying! He would not order an MRI as recommended by the ER. He didn’t even get additional x-rays. He decided it was my rotator cuff. I got a second opinion and he was flat wrong. They ran additional X-rays , heard me out and did the work to find the problem. They are now treating me and I am slowly on the mend. I will never go to Dr. Li again.
