Sunrise Of Raleigh's Online Review Report Card

My father was in this facility from September 2024 until February 2025, when he sadly passed away. Most of the staff were compassionate and helpful while caring for him. My father always complained about how bad the food was though. The real issue lies in the administration of this facility. When he passed, we received a call from the nurse who said we "believe" he passed away. Believe? Are you kidding me. We instructed them to call hospice for assistance who confirmed he did pass. Days later, we removed the items from his room and were out by the end of February. Yesterday, we received an email stating the full amount for his care/room was removed from our account to pay for the month of March. Remember, he passed away weeks earlier in February. When we contacted the administration, the lady said she would look into it and get back with us. We demanded a check in the full amount. She stated she would not be at the Raleigh location tomorrow, so.... If you or your loved one choose to call this home, make sure you pay careful attention to what the administration does.

We have had a very positive experience at Sunrise during my mother’s stay. The staff are consistently warm and friendly to the residents and family. Gwen, the RN, is wonderful and goes beyond the call of duty to meet the needs of residents. She helped us on several occasions with different issues and was always so pleasant to deal with. On the Memory Care unit there are two activities directors, Samantha and Christopher who are great and are so engaged with the residents. They provide meaningful activities to keep the residents happy, the activities exceeded are expectations! Family members are always welcome to join their loved ones and it makes the visits even more interactive with my mother who has dementia. Audria, the Executive Director was wonderful to deal with. She was on top of things and really listened to any concerns we had and helped resolve them quickly. The Care Managers (aides) on the Memory Unit were always so pleasant to deal with and really took the time to get to know my mother. The residents are always given a choice of foods for each meal, so there is always something they can eat. The new renovations are beautiful and the extended parking lot is super helpful for guests and staff. My father visited for hours every day, and the staff couldn’t have been kinder to him! Great attitudes from staff from the top down!

My father was in Sunrise for only two and a half months. I was very disappointed in his care, he had several terrible bruises on his chest, ribs, buttocks and back which no one could really say how he got them. It’s is very expensive and the total care was lacking, teeth not brushed same clothes on for three days and someone else’s cloths and shoes on him. My family was very disappointed in his stay at Sunrise, just a money maker.

Sunrise has been very welcoming and their staff has been very attentive to our needs.

I would not recommend. Most stressful year!

My loved one was here for 3 years. Had the dementia not progressed so far during COVID that we felt we could move him without putting him in more jeopardy, we would've been out of there asap. Staff are not trained. Leadership is non-existent. No one is held accountable from the top to the bottom. They do not try to include the family or work with the family. They steal medicine from patients by just not giving it to them. They do not receive medication when it is ordered to be delivered...they just refuse delivery. The care provided is minimal and lacking. But the cost is extreme. No sheets on bed, patient in the same clothes for days, do not clean patients in a timely manner, do not understand how to care for patients without putting them at risk to injury or more. I beg of you...please do not put your loved one here.
