List of Wakemed Health & Hospitals Childrens Emergency Department's Reviews
We took our daughter there after suffering a severe case but she was given a quick diagnosis and later released. Later on my daughter suffered another life threatening condition and we had to call EMS and we specifically insisted that she be taken to Duke childrens hospital instead of at Wakemed med childrens emergency. I feel like the doctors at Wakemed childrens emergency department should have done better to admit and find a bed for her treat and monitor our baby instead of releasing her to come back home with us only to suffer another life threatening episode.
Friendly staff and informative drs. Had a bad experience when I mistakenly parked in an ambulance parking spot that was unmarked with no sign.. security made me leave my child with dr who was in the middle of an emergency exam to park on the other end of campus because parking was full. Please mark your important parking spots.. please stop hiring security with bad attitudes. The emergency room was empty not sure why the parking lot was even full but when taking my child to ER this is an issue regardless.
Our 3 yr old son was admitted to the hospital on 58 complaining of stomach pain. We initially thought he was constipated but ultrasoundsother testing proved something more serious was going on. They did an emergency exploratory surgery and found he had a very rare condition which only 2% of the population has and not only were they able to take care of that but they removed his appendix as well. I am eternally grateful for the surgeons nurses and doctors that provided such excellent care during our stay and made us feel as comfortable as possible during such a scary time. I can’t speak highly enough of them for not only saving our son but for their patience dedication and knowledge. Thank you
Bad experience for me and my baby.
I brought my daughter in last night in fear that she may have developed appendicitis. Although they were swamped with patients they were able to answer my many questions and reassure me through one of the scariest nights of our lives. There was a nurse by the name of Trina that stood out the most she was patient and extremely kind. She even supplied me with a charger to prevent me from having run out and buy one. I really appreciate her effort to bring comfort to a situation that was anything but comfortable.
We were taken in extremely quickly with barely any wait. All of the nurses PAs and lead doctor were extremely nice and knowledgeable. I understood everything they said and meant. They even gave my son and ice pop and a stuffed animal to keep him calm.
My 15 month old son was admitted for a last minute surgery as a side effect of a viral infection to remove fluid from his knee. Such a quick scary process for us. Our overnight nurse Rita was beyond amazing. She comforted us as parents provided more than we needed and found special ways to bring a smile to our sweet boy’s face She’s a top notch nurse
Came in for a scheduled Csection on Tuesday the 12th Csection went well recovery went well get to our room baby starts having sugar issues understandable having mom diabetic of course they take baby to NICU. I understand restrictions needed because of the covid19 issues but in my opinion some of the restrictions arent very efficient. We found out shortly being patient still in my wife being still admitted I was able to stay with her but parents that have kids in there that have no room are of course sent home and go about their day every day about and then come into the NICU where my child is and risk her getting infected this virus is undetectable for up to 14 days so really need to work on how they arrange this either they only allow mama and child in the hospital and release them at the very end together and their quarantined and daddy will just have to make do out like they do in New York or they need to quarantine the whole family and let them all go at the same time you also have very very poor matter of fact no communication to the parents regarding your child why theyre in there only you or the mom can see the child one at a time they say they got all these restrictions in place yet when my wife finally was discharged on Saturday they told us they would board us one night after that however I had to leave because she is a diabetic to get her insulin and her medication and pain medicines after having her Csection cuz they would of course no longer provide with her with anything when returning screening was very slack I get I just left to go do that and get fresh clothes from the house but they did not recheck my temperature when I came back in the building. I also had a very bad experience with a nurse in the NICU I will not say her name on this but she did forcibly instead of educating me and telling me or giving me suggestions took my baby from my arms we will never return to this hospital to ever have another child or any services whatsoever we will go to Duke Rex anywhere else before returning to here
We were admitted on Friday and are being discharged this morning. My 8 year old son has pneumonia. Amber Bryant his overnight night nurse for both nights was OUTSTANDING. We love her. You can tell she loves her job. She’s compassionate and completely devoted to the care of her patients. She’s an amazing nurse and I am so thankful she was the one taking care of Layton. I nominated her for the daisy award and I encourage anyone else who has her as their nurse to nominate her as well she truly deserves recognition for her hard work.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
