Wakemed Hospitals's Online Review Report Card

The doctors/nursing staff were very kind and effective. We were out within a short amount of time. They we're very good with my small child who was there for stitches. But it doesn't make up for the fact that we walked in right after a mother with two unmasked kids that I heard her state were Covid positive and were there for treatment. I was very surprised and disappointed that the children were not made to properly mask. Being next in line after those children, we followed behind them up to the counter, then behind the counter for vitals, then to the triage room. I never saw them properly masked. At one point during our time there my 5 year old's mask slipped down and it was probably 10 seconds before I noticed. Being in that room only two minutes after the Covid positive kids, our whole family is quarantining, including an immunosuppressed child who will be spending the next 14 days in his bedroom.

I had the unfortunate task of having to take my child to the ER last week, but fortunately we arrived at WakeMed children’s hospital, the care and comfort that was given to my daughter, my wife, and, I was amazing! We are so thankful for all the outstanding nurses and doctors from the ER, to PICU, to step down! If it weren’t for you I wouldn’t have my daughter today! So from the bottom of my heart thank you!!! This hospital is amazing and the people who work here are just as awesome!!

My child was born February 2020. Somehow I continued to get billed for it through 2021. I made a huge payment to pay it off, but I was once again charged another bill. I had been making payments on my own, but because I didn't make a payment plan through them,they sent me to collections. They were no help and did not care that I couldn't pay the lump sum at once. Her response was "There's nothing I can do about it." She told me I had received four statements for that one bill. Looking back at my statements and payments, not one statement I received had the same balance. They were all lower than the one before. I don't understand how I was sent to debt collections when I've never received a statement with the same balance.

Friendly staff and informative drs. Had a bad experience when I mistakenly parked in an ambulance parking spot that was unmarked with no sign.. security made me leave my child with dr who was in the middle of an emergency exam to park on the other end of campus because parking was full. Please mark your important parking spots.. please stop hiring security with bad attitudes.The emergency room was empty, not sure why the parking lot was even full, but when taking my child to ER, this is an issue regardless.

Lo mejor que pude traer a mi hijo lo llevé A UNC ayer no le hicieron nada.Llegue a Wake childrens encontraron que tenia mi hijo esta actualmente hospitalizado las enfermeras los pediatras excelente doctores le hicieron su cirugía y ya voy para cuarto atendieron a mi hijo excelente encontraron todo lo que tenía.Un hospital del niño excelente.

We took our daughter there after suffering a severe case but she was given a quick diagnosis and later released. Later on my daughter suffered another life threatening condition and we had to call EMS and we specifically insisted that she be taken to Duke children's hospital instead of at Wakemed med children's emergency. I feel like the doctors at Wakemed children's emergency department should have done better to admit and find a bed for her, treat and monitor our baby instead of releasing her to come back home with us only to suffer another life threatening episode.

I'm not even all the way better but I feel the need to write this review. The anger I feel is unreal, which is another reason why I stay away from the medical system the best I can.  When this hospital have a hard time figuring out what is going on with you they have a habit of saying you're the cause of it and somehow it's you're fault. I urge people to be with their loved ones at all time if you can and get your medical records. They will tell you one thing to your face and then lie on paper, and they will even have the guts to say they won't remove it. They talk about patients in front of other patients who are awake and care hear them. They make fun of other patients, these are nurses by the way. I heard it first had as a patient. They need a private investigator to roam the hospital hallways so they can see what truly goes on. I plan on filing a complaint.

Truly the most AMAZING staff here. From the desk person to the neurosurgeon and everyone in between!!  My son has been at ER 3 times in a month and spent 8 nights here. I can't believe how wonderful each person was that we came in contact with!!  Just wonderful, caring. Sweet, and smart people.  Thank you ALL!!

Our 3 yr old son was admitted to the hospital on 5/8 complaining of stomach pain. We initially thought he was constipated, but ultrasounds/other testing proved something more serious was going on. They did an emergency exploratory surgery and found he had a very rare condition which only 2% of the population has and not only were they able to take care of that but they removed his appendix as well. I am eternally grateful for the surgeons, nurses, and doctors that provided such excellent care during our stay and made us feel as comfortable as possible during such a scary time. I can’t speak highly enough of them for not only saving our son but for their patience, dedication, and knowledge. Thank you!

I brought my daughter in last night, in fear that she may have developed appendicitis. Although they were swamped with patients, they were able to answer my many questions and reassure me through one of the scariest nights of our lives. There was a nurse by the name of Trina that stood out the most, she was patient and extremely kind. She even supplied me with a charger to prevent me from having run out and buy one. I really appreciate her effort to bring comfort to a situation that was anything but comfortable.
