Dr. Gowan was very personable & caring. I couldn’t ask for a better physician to treat me. The staff at Med First that with whom I dealt were also very nice & helpful. Finally, the ability to make an appointment at Med First for an urgent care visit was extremely helpful! I can whole heartedly recommend Med First!

I would leave -negative stars for a review if I could. Do NOT go here. If raising their price to $190 isn't enough of a deterrent, then consider my experience: 1st visit - Prescribed antibiotics for a very painful skin infection that they literally forgot to send to the pharmacy. 2nd visit - 10 days later the infection returned a day after I finished the antibiotics. Dr. took a culture to send to the lab. (There was no mention of any additional charge, by the way.) Dr. prescribed an alternative antibiotic (I was told the previous antibiotic they prescribed isn't recommended for skin infections) that worked MUCH better. A week after the 2nd visit I called to ask about the results of the culture and was told it was "negative for MRSA." Apparently they didn't bother to actually identify the infection, which I thought was the whole point of a culture, just checked to see that it wasn't MRSA.Ok. Again there was no mention of any additional charge. After a week of finishing my 2nd course of antibiotics, the infection returned a 3rd time. I sent a message to the Dr. asking for a refill and was told I would have to come in AGAIN for another $190 visit. I did a telemed visit instead ($40 vs. $190) and got my 3rd course of antibiotics. A week after that call, I received a voicemail from their office for "Karen" (which is not my name) discussing prescription strength shampoo and diabetes medication. What?! A FULL MONTH LATER, I received a bill from Quest diagnostics for $299.44. for a culture that didn't even define what the infection was! ARE YOU SERIOUS?! It was never mentioned once that I would be charged for the culture. This place is an absolute joke.

I had what turned out to be a sinus infection and made an appointment with Med First in Southport. The receptionist welcomed me right on time and I saw Dr. Van Tanner. He diagnosed the problem and sent me on my way after he had called in the Rx I needed. He was friendly and thorough. Judith Steffens
