Highly recommend Dr Melin and his PA Paul. I had a herniated disk that vastly altered my quality of life. Dr Melin and Paul tried several options (oral steroids and then injections) to prevent surgery. He was not quick to suggest surgery. The options were scheduled quickly, but unfortunately did not work for me. When I made the decision for surgery, I was quickly scheduled and the surgery provided immediate, life - changing relief by that afternoon. When calling for questions or prescription refills, phone calls are returned in a timely manner. Office staff is friendly and efficient.

I was promptly taken back and well taken care of. I was listened to, assessed, and very pleased with my treatment plan!!!

Well where do I start i I guess with saying that Dr Brown and his staff are super friendly but i have had five back surgeries done by Doctor Brown now I have had a total of 14 back surgeries and now i hurt so bad that when I go to bed at night that god will take me i have tried everything there is and so has theses guys they sent me down stairs to another back place that puts in pain pumps but that doctor was a joke i do have long hair and I think he judged me because of that he just walked in he had an intern with him he looked at me said if you words and said bye and now the only option that I have left is to live in this pain on a scale from 1 to 10 I wake up on a 10 i go to bed with a 10 pain rating don't ask for pain medicine for anybody because they think that you are a drug at it and no I'm not writing this review because I was denied pain medicine or anything else actually I'm hoping that if someone's reads this maybe they can give me some suggestions or some hope for someone that can possibly help me with my pain like I said Dr. Brown's office and his staff Laura Chris they're all super good people they have tried to help me but there is no help out for me so I go to bed and pray to God at night then I won't wake up the next Morning no I'm not suicidal I'm just tired of pain and living in my bed watching the world and my grandson grow up without me Enjoying their happiness God bless take care if anyone knows of someone local that can help please email me it's Gary Simmons 57.gs@Gmail.comAt this point The only place that puts in pain pumps is in Greenville North Carolina I don't have a car I don't drive so I can't make it there maybe they can find me a pain Clinic in Wilmington

My husband had sudden brain surgery to remove a brain tumor. Dr. Alsina visited him at least once per day leading up to surgery and let us know what to expect. 6 hours after surgery, my husband  amazingly had no pain, and was quick witted. Due to the covid virus, I could not go to the hospital, but Dr. Alsina phoned me to give me updates on how he was doing and to get my input. We are so pleased with Dr. Alsina and staff, and the amazing outcome. I would highly recommend.

Everything about our emergency trip to New Hanover Regional Medical Center was so reassuring. We were there for a spinal injury due to an accident in the ocean at Oak Island. Our PA's with Port City Neurosurgery & Spine - Paul Theiss and Chris Steyskal - were so caring and thoughtful. Chris used to work in Charlotte and was able to secure follow-up care for us when we returned. They both were supportive, caring and genuinely interested in our wellbeing. And they both have such great personalities...they were a joy to be around. We knew we were in good hands and would recommend Port City to anyone with spinal issues. Thank you caring for us!

Dr. George Alsina is by far the most caring and knowledgeable Neurosurgeon. On November 26, 2010 my husband at the age of only 32 suffered an ischemic stroke and was rushed to New Hanover Regional Medical Center. This is where I first met Dr. Alsina. Dr. Alsina spoke with me about the severity of the situation and explained his plan. My husband was rushed to surgery by Dr. Alsina with only a five percent chance of survival. Thankfully my husband survived. Dr. Alsina came in each day after the surgery to check on my husband while he was recovering and always explained what he was doing and what was to be expected after my husband left the hospital.Fast forward to 2019, my husband had intolerable pain in his back and was told by our family doctor that my husband would need to see a neurosurgeon. The first name out of my mouth of course was Dr. Alsina. When we went to his office to meet with him we did not expect him to remember us, as he has a lot of patients, but he did he even remembered how my husbands stroke occurred and my husbands military service. Once again Dr. Alsina diagnosed my husbands condition and explained his plan. My husband had his second surgery with Dr. Alsina a few weeks ago and is doing great.I have, and will always recommend Dr. Alsina to anyone in need of a caring, knowledgeable Neurosurgeon. Dr. Alsina saved my husbands life in 2010 and for that we all will be forever grateful to him.

I highly recommend Thomas Melin, MD. and his wonderful associates and staff at Port City Neurosurgery & Spine!  I underwent a L5-S1 Microdiscectomy Laminectomy in January 2019, and I am extremely satisfied with the results, and with the process of care received from PCN&S.Dr. Melin & office provided a top-notch level of care throughout my entire disc surgery that was above and beyond my expectations.  Paul Theiss, PA-C repeatedly put my mind at ease with his unlimited patience explaining the surgery and his continual availability to answer all questions before, during and after.  My pre & post Op pain were effectively managed by Paul, and his recommended follow-up physical therapy has resulted in a wonderful recovery.  I feel lucky to have found this fantastic group of medical professionals who provided wonderful patient care and met my every medical need thoroughly and cheerfully. Heartfelt thanks to Dr. Melin, Paul, Emily and the Port City Neurosurgery & Spine office for healthcare at its best, right here in Wilmington!

I waited well over an hour before I was ever seen. The P.A., Jeff Probst, came in rushed and indifferent. Told me I didn't LOOK like I was in much pain. Recommended some very expensive things like bracing (even though we discussed how bracing the back is proven to actually be detrimental but said "if it makes you feel better"), injections (VERY expensive and did not work for me prior but make them a lot of money), and other means that didn't make sense to me. I then let him know I felt frustrated because I wanted to find a plan of care that would help with my pain but also not hinder me in the future. He repeated to me that "whatever makes you feel better" as in the immediate. I am very conscientious and still young, I have a lot of life left and don't want to hinder my future for a temporary fix. I asked about massage and PT. He refused to recommend at PT in town that would be good but gave me a list and said to pick my own!I then ask Jeff about the medication my primary care physician has me on and what he thinks of it- he said he felt I should be on a much stronger dose and to call him about it...? I asked about the medication or an alternative as it has some serious side effects... his response was that deodorant with aluminum is causes cancer but he still wears it. WOW. What a waste of time and money. THESE PEOPLE COULDN'T CARE LESS.

THE PA has to be the most incompetent person I have ever experienced.  Poor attitude offered no help and seemed clueless.  Please by all means go somewhere else
