List of Wake Forest Baptist Health's Reviews
Excellent 👌
I have to say the doctors and staff are great here in terms of office visits and providing services but their billing is terrible and quite frankly dishonest. I was told when I was in by the doctor my visit was going to be build as a physical and then when I checked out the receptionist told me no co-pay because the doctor billed it as a physical. Now I am getting a bill for my co-pay and after speaking to main billing and the office directly I have got nothing but the run around. It is not about the $30 copay but it is about doing what you say you are going to do and then making it right if a mistake does happen. While I believe the office staff I talked to twice about this issue may not be at fault for the billing, they were completely unhelpful in resolving the issue. As a whole Wake Forest cannot be trusted when it comes to billing and encourage anyone who visits them to get documentation of bills before leaving as they will come back at you months later with a new bill.
We are looking for a pediatrician for our baby, we are expecting in October. We called and asked if we could meet with a doctor to see if they might be a good match for us, and they told us that they do not meet with expectant mothers or parents. They did not even consider us as potential patients. I hope they realize they just lost a family that could have been their patients.
The only reason i gave it a 2 was because of the staff, they were good. The doc weve seen twice now just seems to be there to collect a check. My daughter had been throwing up and a slight fever, wife has pink eye, and he says both have swollen lymph nodes, no problem. Thinks my daughter may have streph but doesn't want to test her, prescribes her an antibiotic. Just throw medicine at it without knowing for sure. He also tests my wife and it comes back negative. My son just started having a watery eye and has been rubbing it, keep in mind he just diagnosed her with pink eye, but doesn't want to look at him. Rewind to a month or so ago.. took my son in because he was grabbing his ear and has had a couple of ear infections. The same doc looks at his ear and says it's fine but sent him to the ER because of a cough he had.. he wanted to take precaution, no prob.. the doc in the ER says yeah he has some type of viral infection with with the cough but i could have told you that over the phone with what the doc you saw at urgent care told me. He wasn't worried about it because of his size. But did treat him for an ear infection bc of the amount of fluid in his ear, it would become one in a day or two.. previous doc said nah he wasn't worried about it.. trip to the ER to get a prescription for abb ear infection.. please drive an extra 10 minutes down the road to go to another urgent care
I have been going here for years and seeing a dr that I love. Today I accidentally mixed up my appointment time and didn’t realize that I was 30 minutes late. They took my copay and then the receptionist was incredibly rude and said “well she (my dr) won’t see you when you’re 30 minutes late.” I wasn’t aware that I was late and the receptionist failed to inform me until after she had accepted payment from me. On top of that, their billing dept. said that it will take at least 3 weeks to refund the copay that I paid in cash! Sorry for the dr, but she lost a patient due to the rude receptionist.
I visited the urgent care with my granddaughter yesterday. The ladies at check-in, the nurse, and the intern/PA could not have been nicer or more caring. They deserve 10 stars. However, I cannot say the same for the doctor. My granddaughter had symptoms of sore throat, low grade fever, nasal drainage, cough, nausea, vomiting, fatigue, and soreness. He asked about drug/alcohol use (more than once), looked at her throat and “pressed” around her neck, under her arms, her abdomen, her wrists, and her “butt” bones - asking if she felt pain. He did not bother to explain why he was checking these areas and made my granddaughter feel very uncomfortable. He then ordered a strep test. He did not mention flu. When he returned to the room he told her it was probably a virus and would run its course and to rest and drink fluids. He actually lectured her (and me) to NOT take any “over the counter remedies” (cough drops, suppressents, pain reliever, advil, nasal sprays)as these did not work - they only raised blood pressure and made things worse. I think he said this at least 3 times. While I have concern with someone mixing several over the counter remedies or abusing them, this was not the case with my granddaughter and the reason we visited the urgent care was for treatment so she didn’t have to rely on over the counter medications to relieve her symptoms. He did not offer anything other than the above and a mention that he could not rule out mono but the treatment would be the same. He gave her a one day medical excuse for class and my granddaughter was so bad that she could barely speak, had no appetite, had difficulty getting out of bed, and could not sleep because she woke up choking on the mucous. I might note that he did not ask for past medical history and she has asthma and reactive airway. Following his advice, she declined so significantly overnight that the school sent her to another medical facility this morning. This facility diagnosed her with the flu. I have to agree with the previous comments - if you are sick and need care then DO NOT choose this facility. Again this does not reflect on any of the staff other than the arrogant and dismissive doctor that “treated” her. Note to the doctor - try listening to the patient instead of assuming all teenagers are juvenile delinquents.
Super friendly staff, but after waiting an hour, I was essentially dismissed (12/24) and given a prescription for nasal spray. As symtoms have only worsened, I went to another doctor today (12/28) that tested me for strep throat, and the test came back positive.
It wasn't even 6 pm and they had already closed there doors what a shame to even say there open late if they close the doors before the time, never bringing my kids here every again
Took my 8 year old because she was deathly ill. Dr saw her and said it was her asthma and did the first part of strep and it was negative. Sent us home with prednisone prescription. This was a Sun. Took her to her Dr on Tuesday and she was diagnosed with Strep Throat (which they said he should have seen that on his computer because I took her to her doctor the 2 days before I took here here it was neg for the 1st part and her Drs office was closed but the lab tested for the 2nd part of strep and it was positive and they put it in the computer that day). AND PNEUMONIA!!!! He was on the computer talking to me and to a student doctor!!!!! DO NOT, I REPEAT DO NOT GO HERE IF YOU FEAR FOR YOUR LIFE!!!!!
After the passing of a great family physician I had had for 15 years I searched for a practice that met the same high standards I had been used to for so long. I met with many physicians ay other practices but it was not until I came here and met with Dr. David Shelburne did I find a physician that I felt totally comfortable with. I knew I had found a home here with Dr. Shelburne and the staff at Wake Forest Family Physicians. A family physician is a doctor who you place the ultimate trust in and there needs to be a very high level of trust and faith in the level of services and professionalism a patient receives. Dr. Shelburne listens very carefully and considers all of my concerns and possibilities when moving forward with any treatment I require. I am not just a part of my healthcare process, I am always made an important partner in my healthcare. Dr. Shelburne's medical knowledge and attention to detail is second to none. I feel completely confident in the healthcare services I receive from him and the staff at Wake Forest Family Physicians.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
