Charles Wood's Online Review Report Card

First met Dr. Charles Woods in April 2021, due to severe back and leg pain. He first diagnosed possible nerve damage. Scheduled EEG and EMG. ( most painful test ever had)After testing, was scheduled in his office for follow-up. The day of appt. Dr. Woods said "nope everything is fine" . I asked how can that be when my MRI's show severe damage. Dr. Woods said you can get a second opinion , I will refer you to Mayo Clinic. Dr. Woods didn't even offer any solutions. I left his office crying in pain and my husband was just as upset.I went to another Neurosurgeon from Sanford in Bismarck. This Surgeon had my MRI's pulled up my first visit and said, This is why you are in pain". I have 4 disc that have no cushion and the spinal column is pinching my sciatic nerve , causing most of my pain for the last year and half. I am now scheduled for a Spinal Fusion surgery.I would not recommend anyone to see Dr. Woods as he will push you on to someone else. He needs to retire if he is not willing to help the patience who go to him for help. JE

The year was 2004, June around my Annivesary, in early June of 2004 my family practitioner (Dr Abraham) had me take a cat scan of my nuero system, showed a indication of a foreign body, He recommended I see a Nuero Surgeon. My wife then recommended Dr. Charles Wood at that time he was associated with another Suergon (Dr.Prince something?). In the second week after he had me take an MRI with contrast and saw me in that week urgently to tell me I had a growth of undetermined size wrapped around my left Auditory Nerve. He ordred Emrgency surgery for me the monday after seeing him, 4 days before. On the fifth day at work I collapsed and was sent to the Hospital for emergency surgery. Dr Wood was there when I arrived. In short after 14 and half hours he and his Associate Dr Prince saved my life. He is blunt but to the point, and some don't like that. I'm the same way being a former military man, with combat experience. I would recommend him.

The first spinal surgeon I saw did not even look at my MRI before telling me I needed a complex spine fusion and I needed it right away. Fortunately my dad had just had his back worked on by another surgeon who he liked a lot. That doctor was Dr. Wood and he looked at the MRI twice and made sure I understood what it showed. He then told me he thought surgery would not help my back pain so we decided to do therapy and injections. My pain only slightly improved so I went to the Mayo and they told me to go with Dr. Wood. I am glad I did. He may be blunt but he knows his stuff and if you don't mind BS then don't see Dr. Wood.

I broke my spine doing something stupid. I was so drunk at the time I don't remember nothing about being in the ED but my mom says I was not able to move or feel my legs. She was told not to get her hopes up but emergency surgery was my only chance. When I woke up I could feel my legs and in two days I was walking. I am still working on my urine control but it is better. My surgeon, Dr. Wood never judged me and he always would walk in and hold my hand so I wouldn't be afraid. He reminds me of my grandpa. Thank you Dr. Wood for saving my life and accepting me for who I am.

Out of the blue, one day I suddenly felt severe pain in both legs. Being a single mom I took Ibuprofen and did the best I could until I lost control of my bladder. I still waited to see a doctor but finally went to the ER scared to death. I was sent 2 hours away to a neurosurgeon named Dr. Wood. Within a minute of walking into my room he saw my tears and took my hand and told me he would take care of me and I believed him. I went to surgery and awoke with my leg pain and tingling gone, praise God. The best part is my bladder is getting better. Thank you Dr. Wood for your kindness and incredible skill.

I would give zero stars if I could. The dr was in and out within 5 minutes with a few simple tests. Never tested the strength I had in my right leg which has been numb since my accident then puts that I'm able to climb a ladder, stand, squat all which I really cant do atm. He was very rude and talked down to me from the beginning of his evaluation. A person shouldn't leave a specialty dr office with more questions than answers.

Brought the boyfriend up for a herniated disc and nerve pinching seen by 2 other doctors on a referral from his primary. He had no answers. Was rude. And when my boyfriend said that it was wasted time the doctor said "Well I didn't drag you down here." Well obviously we didn't either but the local doctors thought we'd have a better chance here. He only brought up 1 MRI of the thoracic region, which had nothing wrong. His area of complaint is lumbar. Didn't bring it up and explain what wasn't wrong. Then he said he could refer my boyfriend to a neurologist and didn't do that either. If I could rate nothing I would. Will definately go through Sanford next time.

I had four disks in my neck replaced by Dr. Woods and his team in Minot a year and a half ago and I couldn't be more happy with the results! I'm pain free now and I still have most of the movement in my neck that I had before my neck wore out due to my age.

EXTREMELY rude! I saw him last year for extreme pain in my right leg (I had a previous surgery on my l5 s1 disc 10 years before). My appointment lasted MAYBE 5 minutes for him to pretty much rudely tell me I’m lying, that there’s no explanation for pain on the right side when the disc damage is all on the left. He stood up and rudely said “we can do cortisone injections, is that what you want?” I told him I don’t know yet. And he said well come back if that’s what you want and walked out!! I had to ask the med student that was with him if we were done! 3 months later still in extreme pain barely able to walk at this point, I saw Dr. Belanger at Sanford. My MRI had gotten worse and I had surgery 2 days after seeing him.
