John Amsbury's Online Review Report Card

In my opinion, as female, going to a gynecologist is never fun. Even it’s for a routine check up. That being said, I just had my first visit with Dr. Amsbury yesterday and I immediately wanted to come here and talk about my experience and ultimately leave a good review. Dr. Amsbury is absolutely amazing! During the visit, he took his time getting to know me along with my medical history. He was very professional and personable all at the same time. I also would like to comment on his staff and iterate how amazing and compassionate they were also. I had a question the next day after my procedure and they were there to help me through it without a hitch.

Nice Doctor but it's almost impossible to get a hold of him. He's completely busy with other surgeries, appointments and meetings. Any questions or concerns that you may have goes through his nurses and technicians first, before the message even gets delivered to him. It's not at all a personal experience knowing answers from this Doctor. There's a long wait time; even with an appointment set up.

Dr. A knew when to refer us to specialist for infertility when the issue was outside of his scope and skill level, which I personal thing is a quality quite a few physicians in Minot lack. Based on that, I was impressed and we sadly misplaced a lot of trust in him. After going through IVF we were excited to be pregnant. Our first appt, Dr. A started the appt telling us we were no longer "special" (red flag #1) and that it was a normal pregnancy. He spent more of that appt treating us like children than patients. We never had any expectations of being "special" patients, but we were understandably nervous and scared. Most appts were quick and we felt fairly dismissed with questions & concerns (red flag #2). At our 20 wk U/S his office failed to schedule the correct amount of time for multiples (red flag #4) causing the techs to rush & miss potential preterm labor signs. My babies were born sub 26 wks & almost died due to his lack of concern and making sure we knew we weren't "special".

Horrible didn't even have the guts to tell my wife face to face that our babies didn't have a heart beat he called her on the phone

I had an amazing experience with him. He has done surgery on my daughter and myself. Amazing bedside manner.

He and his staff are absolutely wonderful!!

Very calm and Collective doctor. I am not from the area so I had to judge from previous reviews and I do not regret choosing Dr. Amsbury. He tells it like it is and is a very down to earth type of person.

The most down to earth, caring, honest doctor I’ve ever been blessed to see! You really feel like his top concern when you are being seen. Not just another person with issues to fix. I really can’t say enough good things about the care I’ve received from him and his staff. (That’s another thing... you will not run into rude nurses rushing through any part of your time. They are the sweetest ladies!) Also I love that I am not sitting in the waiting room for longer than my appointment even takes. If you have health anxiety he’s the man you need to see! I’ve thought I was surely suffering a terminal illness a few times and left his office completely calm. He doesn’t brush off your concerns, he will genuinely look into what you are afraid of and explain and calm your nerves. You really matter to him! You don’t find that many places anymore.

Dr. Amsbury is absolutely amazing!! Although my pregnancy was boring, which was a good thing, when delivery time came he was there for ALL my needs. I'm having another child and I an proud to say Dr. Amsbury delivers my children! He listens to me and shares his knowledge with us! Truly a great guy and Dr!

I am not nor was I very pleased with this doctor. Didn’t listen to my concerns wrote them off. I’ve had a few kids so know myself a bit and more than once I was right. We almost didn’t make it through the delivery and later surgery. Was a horrid experience all around both doctor and hospital.
