Hillcrest Firethorn's Online Review Report Card

Went in for Rehabilitation and just laid in bed all day. That department really needs some help.

I work for a doctors office and have tried to call several times to Hillcrest Firethorn, which is a rehab facility. The phone will ring about 20 times and then goes to a busy signal. Once when someone actually answered, they tried to reach the nurse and she was not available, so they were going to have the nurse call back. I had not heard back, so I called again with no answer.

A few night staff are rude, forget medication and use inappropriate language towards patients. Not a safe place due to these people.

Was told there was no open beds when I have 3 close friends who are employed by this facility. They informed me that they have several open beds. Not impressed with Firethorn and I will no longer recommend them. Send your loved ones to a facility that does not lie, not a good sign!

My mother has been at Hillcrest Firethorn for two weeks. We had a very rough July as mom was in the hospital twice for acute anemia caused by an abdominal bleed. Each stay was 10 days and at the end she was quite weak and understandably depressed. The staff at Hillcrest was wonderful. The nurses and aids are very caring. The PT and OT had mom up and getting much stronger in a very short time. The administration staff was a dream to work with. They helped me with several insurance issues. I will be bringing mom home tomorrow. I can't thank Hillcrest enough for all their help and support during this time. Thank you to you all.

The food here is amazing and the team is very caring. I'm so impressed with the therapy gym and their physical therapy. Great place!

We have had a really good experience here with our loved one. From the rehab side to the long-term care side, the staff has treated us and our loved one with respect and dignity. They care a lot about their residents! The administration team is responsive and communicative. We have gone every day to see my Dad and so many people have helped us have meaningful visits whether it is at his window, over the phone, or in-person. The facility is very clean and it smells good. We feel very lucky. They love my Dad and we don't have to worry about his care.

On my first day as a patient I received a telephone call from A Nebraska Medicine Liver Transplant team member. I have end stage liver cirrhosis and in need of a liver. The liver transplant team member informed me they had a liver for me. I went to the nursing station to in form the RN in charge I was in room 156 and needed to leave to Omaha. Her response was “who are you and directed a tech to escort me to my room and watch me wash my hands and put on a mask. I felt so belittled at the RN’s treatment and felt her corrosive attitude was because of my skin color. I hope the administrative staff at Hillcrest Firethorn relieve this RN of her duties.

Sadly, we warned the staff that my father in law was going to get out of bed to use the restroom if nobody came in when he pushed the call button. They refused to use a bed alarm because they consider it a "restraint". He was found in a pool of blood after getting out of bed to use the restroom. 13 stitches in his head and horrific bruises on his body and face. We were not able to visit him at all while he was there due to covid restrictions, even with PPE. We brought him home after a hospital stay (due to the fall) for fear of sending him back with no way to visit him and make sure he was safe. He died a couple weeks later.

My mother is currently staying here. She has been there for a week and I have received 2 calls from her in the early morning hours telling me about the mistreatment she had to go through from the night nursing staff. She is now constantly telling me she wants to go home now but she is to stay for another 2 weeks. She has no problems during the day with any of the staff, this is only happening in the middle of the night. Last night she had a nurse yell at her saying that my mother isn't the only one there and that there are people dying there and if she needs to go to the restroom she can take herself. My mother is supposed to have assistance getting around which is why she is there in the first place. I still have not had my call returned from someone in the office to address this reoccurring issue.
