David Sjulin Md's Online Review Report Card

Had an excellent appointment with Dr. Sjulin today. He was very nice, listened to what I had to say and was very personable. There was never any rush to speed up the appointment and all my concerns were addressed. This was my first time going to BoysTown hospital and it was a referral to check on some issues I've been having with my throat. Had a great experience with the entire staff from the receptionist to nurse Stephanie.

Absolutely one of the worst medical appointments I've had the displeasure of experiencing. Terrible bedside manner as someone else already mentioned. I couldn't get a word in, and he blamed everything on me being overweight, instead of trying to hear me out. He grudgingly said he would do procedure, only after trying to advocate for myself as much as I could, which was difficult because he would just talk over me louder when I would try to say something. I don't know if it's a racial issue, as I am someone of color, or if he is just truly a terrible doctor, but no one deserves this kind of treatment from a professional medical provider.

Dr Sjulin treated me for nose bleeding......he listen while I explain my concerns.....he told me what I should and should not do.....very through and informative.....I highly recommend him.

This man has never heard of a schedule. You could wait for him after you check in for anywhere from 5 minutes to an hour or more. My daughter was supposed to have tubes put in and he shows up 2 hours late for the procedure. If we would show up even 5 minutes late for an appointment we would be told oh sorry you are late you need to reschedule but he can show up when ever you feels like it. My time is valuable too. My husband had an appointment with him at our local clinic after sitting in the waiting area for an hour we get up and leave. The scheduler has the nerve to call us the next day scream at us for not showing up. Very very unprofessional

Awful. Absolutely awful. Couldn’t even tell him everything that was wrong without an interruption. Took a look at my ears for literally 5 seconds. I’m worse off now than when I went in. Awful bedside manner. Hideous. Tried to tell him my ears hurt but like I said couldn’t even muster a sentence. He seemed to think I was an idiot for asking questions. Never again. Do NOT see this doctor.

If you want to be heard, cared for, and taken seriously, DO NOT SEE DAVID SJULIN! He rushed through my appointment. He did NO comprehensive exam or even LOOK in my ears for longer than 2 seconds. I tried to tell him several times that I couldn’t hear well out of my right ear. He interrupted me and didn’t listen!! He cleaned out my ears and I’m worse off today than I was yesterday. I am irate. Worthless appointment. HORRIBLE bedside manner. Seriously, if you’re a young woman do NOT choose this doctor. Save yourself the hassle. Hey doc, still can’t hear out of my right ear. Maybe if you had done ANY TESTING OR COMPREHENSIVE EXAM YOU WOULD HAVE KNOWN THAT. I want my money back.

I was referred to Dr. Sjulin from my primary care Dr. That practices out of Methodist, why wouldn't he refer me to a Methodist ENT doctor confused me but that's okay I like DR. Sjulin, hopefully my time with him is almost up, I've been battling with strep throat since the beginning of this year and Dr. Sjulin just did a tonsillectomy and adenoidectomy, on me earlier this week. I have seen him 2 times prior to my surgery and liked him both times. He was very honest from the start, and did not pressure me one way or another to get the tonsillectomy done. Who knows if it was Dr. Sjulins magical medical skills or just luck but, the second time I saw him was the last time I had strep before having my surgery and I am pretty sure that was the longest time I went without having strep, after I saw him for it. The day of my surgery went well, I was a little annoyed and anxious before my surgery even with all the medication I was on to relax me because my surgery time was scheduled for 10:40 am and I did not get taken to the surgery room until 11:30, nobody told me they were running behind and so I was laying in the bed all set up for about an hour, and I'm a little OCD about being on time, but I know sometimes there isn't much you can do about it especially in a hospital. Before my surgery Dr. Sjulin came in to see me and asked if I had any questions, I said no and from what I remember it was a pretty quick visit, i was on a lot of medication so I really can't remember very well. That was the last time I saw him. I know after my surgery he went to talk to my parents, and he explained everything to them, and what to expect, and the best way to take all my prescriptions I would be getting. I will see him one more time, for my follow up appointment, and even though I really like him, I hope it is the last time I have to see him, but if I ever need an ENT doctor in the future I will be sure to see Dr. Sjulin.

I went in with a bloody nose that would not quit bleeding. He was so nice and worked so hard to get it to quit bleeding. It took nearly an hour. I thought he was very calm and really nice. I recommended him to my mother for her ENT issue and both of my parents really liked him. He is honest, knowledgeable, and competent.

If your looking for an aggressive, rude doctor with no bedside manner....he's your guy. Plus it didn't help that he gave the wrong medical diagnosis...Meaning the surgery he recommended was not the one needed. If you value your life think twice before choosing a doctor.....Check their background and patient relations....You'll be glad you did.

Dr. Sjulin was very unprepared when I came in for my appt. He did not preview my chart and seemed very unprepared for my visit. He did not have computer capabilities to view my MRI, but pointed to pictures on the wall to try and describe my issue. When the topic of surgery arose, his first risk he pointed out was DEATH, although the procedure is done routinely and he could not give me details on the procedure. His bedside manner was very poor and scared me to death. At the end he confessed he knew very little about what we were discussing and had "more questions than answers." I was very disappointed and will not return.
