Hillcrest Shadow Lake's Online Review Report Card

If I could give this place ZERO stars, I sure would! My mother has repeatedly fallen while under their care and it took me and her POA getting upset with the staff before they would x-ray her to make sure nothing was broken, although for TWO days she cried in pain!!! Furthermore, her grandson is on military leave to visit with his dying grandmother and they are so generous with giving him a 20 MINUTE visit after he drives 14 hours!! 20 MINUTES!!!!! Are you kidding me right now?!?! Kevin, the Administrator, is not even willing to make an accommodation!!! These people are cruel and heartless!!! Her grandson is Military and has been vaccinated and yet, because Hillcrest Shadow Lake staff doesn’t want to come to work because of Covid they won’t allow for family to spend reasonable time with loved ones who are trapped in this horrible place!!!Get real!! These are people, not things!!! Human contact with their FAMILY is more vital to their well-being than the incompetent staff!!!

My wife was in HSL about 5 years until her recent passing. No place is perfect, but the staff at HSL was loving and caring to my wife and myself and I have no regrets about her being there. If I had to choose again I would again choose HSL.

Believe me, both my mother in law and my mother have spent many years in several different nursing homes in Nebraska and Missouri and Hillcrest Shadow Lake is the best by far. Management is very friendly and they keep my wife and I apprised of all situations. The nursing staff really cares and takes good care of my relatives. All nursing homes have issues but Hillcrest overcomes these issues and is the cleanest and have the most competent staff of any home I’ve ever dealt with to this day

I LOVE this place, especially the management team. SO many compassionate people providing really great care. Thank you to the healthcare heroes that put their residents care first.

What a wonderful place with a great staff who really cares. They are doing a great job caring for the residents and communicating with the families during this pandemic. And the renovation is just beautiful - what a great improvement - I look forward to when we can visit again. Thanks for all you do for my family.

Today I got to spend 20 minutes with my over medicated mother. This was the first available visit in two weeks! We are both completely vaccinated and wore masks. The staff hovered outside the visitation room and jumped in quickly when I moved my mom's chair close to the window that looks out on the garden area. They said I did not maintain the in line of site supervision. They were very concerned about our 6 feet distance! I hugged and loved on her and the Nurse Director told me that was a favor to let me do that! If I did not comply with their subjective rules, she would have to come in and sit with us for our 20 minutes. Which the CNA was very prompt about giving us the two minute warning. It was a disgraceful and an unsettling visit! There is no excuse! Covid or not! I cannot get her out of there soon enough! This is a death trap!

I've had numerous interactions with the management team at this facility and been VERY impressed with their compassion.  I have been especially impressed with the care that they give.  Clearly the residents come first here.  I would definitely recommend to a family member or friend if they needed care.

We had such high hopes for my mother's care after being at Hillcrest Millard. She had an excellent Post Acute care there after her week in the hospital. So it made sense to move her to Shadow Lake for a long term stay. We had a great experience with McKinsey the marketing director,  as she made the accommodations for what Covid has taken from us. However, things really started to get blurry with the communication about my mother's medical needs. We have had a very difficult time accessing the medical director or his APRN Kerry. This was brought up to the social worker,  Vanessa and she was very ineffective in solving this issue! We are very dissatisfied with the communication and follow through of this organization and have some real concerns for my mom's care moving forward!

No one should work or put their loved ones in there. Absolutely terrible nurses and service. Found out that my grandpa passed away in his bed and the nurses came in, didn’t rush to call the ambulance or nothing. Absolute garage.
