In 2016, my then 90-year old father was hospitalized at Ellis for a severe illness, eventually diagnosed as anaplasmosis (a tic-borne illness). He nearly died. While some of the staff were convinced he would soon die due to his age and we should put him on hospice, the infectious disease doctor refused to give up. He assured us he would find the cause and treat my father. The doctor engaged my father in conversation to assess his mental state and just in case the nurses erred in their doagnostic tests, redid all diagnostic measurements himself. After several days, he verified the cause, administered the correct medicine and cured my father. That doctor's perseverance was an essential cause of my father's recovery. Many doctors would not work very hard to save a 90-year old man. (Time does not permit me to give details of how they saved him through two heart attacks a year of two before that.) - Oh and my dad just celebrated his 94th.
I was hesitant to go there but It wasnt bad at all, the nurses and doctor were very friendly and helpful, guess everyone has their own experience
Very patient. Very knowledgeable. Treated me like a human should be treated. Thank you to all the staff there and best of luck during this difficult time!
Always professional and very respectful
I went for Preadmission testing. The staff was kind, courteous, and helpful.
I had Donna as a nurse, she was absolutely wonderful
Loved my doctor but show left to now I have a doctor I barely see but its cool overall
Great staff from registration, waiting area, nurses were great, unbelievably kind, helpful, knowledgeable.
I visited Ellis for the first time in May and ended up being admitted for 8 days. I was afraid to come there since I had only really been familiar with Albany Med, and saw the reviews of this hospital - but I also knew this was the closest option and I was in the worst pain I ever experienced. I was so pleasantly surprised by how nice and respectful almost everyone was in all of the departments that played a role in my care, especially the C6 staff that were with me my entire stay. I have since been to the ER again, one of their off-site labs, and an affiliated gastroenterologist and I am so grateful for Ellis.
Very under-reviewed and underappreciated hospital. Have saved thousands of lives in the capital region. Nurses, doctors, and staff are awesome, and helped me tremendously.

All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
