Looking for a great Urologist? I began using Dr, Altamar after four disappointing years with another group of urologists in Maine. The management included numerous procedures that were uncomfortable and ongoing management that left me with an unresolved urologic condition and problems related to prostate enlargement (BHP) Ultimately my daughter wanted me to seek a new urologist and, through a friend, got me an appointment with Dr. Altamar. It was the best thing that ever happened to me! Dr. Altamar did more in two office visits than the other group did in four years! He immediately treated me for a urinary track infection (UTI), gave me a medication to shrink the prostate – treatment that certainly could have been considered and provided four years ago. He ran a voiding trial, I failed, and he scheduled another catheter removal and voiding trial, but immediately scheduled a surgery (TURP) for the prostrate at the same time. The other group made me wait 3-4 months for the surgery, repeatedly catheterizing me during that time frame. I was urinating on my own with just a trace of blood only hours after Dr. Altamar’s operation. I am urinating on my own only hours after removal of the catheter following Dr. Altamar’s operation. I am now urinating on my own and emptying my bladder in normal fashion, without a catheter. Furthermore, Dr. Altamar was very thorough, compassionate, decisive, friendly, knowledgeable, reassuring, trustworthy, focused, ethical, respectful, honest, forthright and obviously skillful. All of these traits apply to his staff as well.

Once in your life time you find a doctor who no only is a professional but cares about you as a person. I would highly recommend Dr. Altamar for any urology problems.
