Khosro Farhad's Online Review Report Card

Took 7 months to get scheduled for care that included IV medication management. He was thorough in asking questions during the first appointment, but then told me I had been misdiagnosed. I still don't know what is causing so many physical and cognitive problems. Seems laser-focused on some things, but then dismissive of other related issues. His bedside manner felt brusque and a bit dismissive. When I tried to ask clarifying questions to him or his nurse, either the same information was repeated or the response effectively ended the conversation.I would not recommend Dr Farhad.

Doctor Farhad is a head of the game. There wasn’t anything I mentioned that he was not aware of especially about my own unique disability/disease or about my situation. I had my PCP send him a comprehensive referral which prior to accepting me as a patient he throughly reviewed. He had a plan for which now I await for it to be put in place. For those of us for which had other plans we’d just like a bite of the apple to have a feeling of normalcy and to be able to forgo the incessant traveling to doctors just to explain symptoms and hopefully find a doctor like Doctor Farhad that will initiate a plan.

First day Doctor Farhad had a complete comprehension of my neuropathy and instantaneously developed a plan. I await for it to be arranged.

I developed small fiber and autonomic neuropathy over a decade ago. I live in rural VT and my specialist care for my condition was very bad before meeting Dr. Farhad. I left every specialist being told “I don’t know” with no treatment plans or help for my symptoms. My quality of life was terrible with constant fainting from hypotension, heart rhythm issues and blood sugar dysregulation. I was becoming so weak physically that I couldn’t even go for walks when I was previously a competitive athlete. Worse than my physical symptoms was the feeling that all doctors had given up and had no desire to even attempt to help me. Dr. Farhad was the first in years to help me access new treatments and give me some hope for a better quality of life. I am very grateful to him as I was near the point of giving up myself. It is very difficult to have any chronic illness but when you have one that no doctors are familiar with or want to help you with it creates a level of hopelessness that I would not wish upon anyone.

Dr Farhad is one of the top Neuromuscular Experts in the country. There aren’t too many other Neurologists who understand these rare Neuromuscular disorders the way he does. At best there’s maybe only a handful of experts. As far as the negative reviews, there are a few subgroups of POTs, it is quite possible that the cause didn’t fall under Dr Farhad’s expertise. The best thing any patient could do before their appointment is to come prepared. My recommendation is to put all the relevant medical information for Dr to review at a glance. For example all medications and supplements, all diagnoses past and present, co-morbidities, all previous medications and supplements and their outcomes, lab results, EMG, biopsies etc into a chronological indexed and searchable tables. I included all the reference ranges for results, and notations to where the data was from in my medical records.. Dr Farhad was able to identify all the relevant health information at a glance. This meant my appointment was better spent with him offering his brilliant insights. You appointment is better spent like this, than watching a sought after Expert sift through stacks of medical reports, and lab results .

Dr. Farhad is thorough in his approach. Asked comprehensive questions. Listened to me and my daughter's concerns. Extremely knowledgeable in the area of POTS and other chronic illnesses. He set forth a treatment plan and possibilities of other options if the first treatment doesn't work. He really set our minds at ease. He did more in one appointment than the 38 other specialist have done combined.

Don't Waste Your Time

I have been seeing Dr. Farhad for a while. I am used to doctors giving up quickly when they cannot find answers right away. I have Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome and we don't always present with testing and we tend to have complicated cases. He took the time to do several tests and has tried different medications when some did not work. It can often be a wait to get in to see him but when i need something i am able to just call. When I 1st went I wasn't sure if the wait was worth it because i didnt fully express my concerns..if you express how you actually feel you will get the help you need.

Waited 5 months to see Dr. Farhad and was incredibly disappointed. I have POTS and IIH too and both can be challenging to treat however because I wasn't his run of the mill patient...he tuned out...was not very helpful and explains even less. You have to basically pull information out Dr. Farhad and even then you probably won't be impressed. Your better off doing your own research and trying to find someone local because what he's doing for POTS isn't that special.

I developed some weird neurological symptoms in March/April 2020. I was already a patient of Dr. Farhad's, so I reached out to him to ask for his guidance. He wrote me a very curt email telling me to go to the ER. This was the beginning of the pandemic when we didn't know a lot about covid, and the ER was unbelievably overwhelmed by covid patients. I asked him if he could schedule a virtual appt or jump on the phone (or even just write a more detailed email!) explaining why he thought I needed to go to the ER. I was just trying to weigh the risk of covid exposure against whatever he thought might be going on. But he actually refused to talk to me. I spoke to his nurse several times, and she apologetically explained that he just wouldn't talk to me. It was an incredibly scary moment for the world and for me personally, as I got diagnosed with a serious illness at the start of a global pandemic. A doctor who can't be bothered to talk to a patient in a moment like that isn't worth much.
