I am still trying to wrap my head around our visit with Dr. Karlson. Not only did she not examine my child, but she also did not check her vital signs or lab results. Instead she leapt forward to a diagnosis. When I questioned this, she became very defensive and hostile. This was the worst patient-physician interaction that I have experienced in my entire life. My child was in tears, and I was baffled by her lack of bedside manner. Quite frankly, I question her clinical competence.

Dr. Karlson needs additional training in patient-provider communications. She was extremely abrasive. At no time did she ask if we had any questions about our child's medical condition and when we attempted to, she continually cut us off, interrupted or talked over us. She provided little information about our next steps and referred us to a CDC web site, which we could have stayed home and reviewed ourselves. She had inaccurately reviewed our child's files and the main reason for the visit.

I showed up 15 minutes before scheduled appointment time and was told they expected me 30 minutes earlier (45 minutes early). I was then chastised by Dr. Karlson for my entire appointment even though nobody asked me to show up 45 minutes early. If it was that big of a problem for them, they should have rescheduled. It's not like their orthopedic office is hard to get to with a limp...oh wait...it is actually very difficult to get to with a limp.
