I was referred to Rob Goings PA for two sets of cortisone injections into my right hip, spaced roughly two months apart, by my orthopaedic surgeon Eric Benson MD. In order for these injections to be effective in reduce leg pain due to nerve problems in my lower leg, the injection site must be located with great precision. This required taking an X-ray of the hip to locate the optimum site, then marking its location on the hip with a small metal target marker, and then taking a second X-ray to verify that the marker had been optimally placed. Then the actual cortisone injection proceeded in two steps. First, a local anesthetic was injected at the site to dull pain. Then the actual cortisone injection was done at the same site. The first dose had dulled the pain sufficiently so that I felt absolutely no pain in this injection. Rob carefully and effectively explained each step of the complete process. It became evident to me that Rob was a skilled practitioner of a delicate injection process requiring great precision in injection site selection and injection administering. He is a very pleasant person that immediately puts his patients at ease. After he had completed the complex injection process on my hip, he thoughtfully walked with me out of his office area, and down the hall to make sure that I was OK! If I need any more injections, I'd certainly want them done at the NH Orthopaedic Center, and by Rob!
