List of Lucian Szmyd Jr's Reviews
Lucien Szmyd is an excellent eye doc with a confident gaze and firm handshake. I was very nervous having such a tall and handsome doctor look directly into my eyes, but I came away from my appointment feeling secure and like a more complete woman. Lucien Szmyd and the fine eyeglasses he sold me have restored my confidence in my vision! I can now see when jerkbags are merging in front of me on 495 without their blinker, but I still wish that tickets for the Downeaster cost less than a pair of glasses.
Once Dr. Szmyd was a good doctor but over the past ten years, I have noticed a real lack of interest in patients. Dreadfully late for appointments, seemingly interested in being elsewhere and once is was a good, sincere doctor. What's happened to him?
I found he was very Professional and Reassuring. I've seen him in several visits, procedures, and Surgery. I feel totally confident in his knowledge and have found him to be very gentle and kind also. I recommend him strongly to anyone! Thank You, Carol Ann Fallon
I called regarding suspicion of a cornea detachment. I was seen the next day and laser repair was done during the appointment. He has superb communication skills and answered all questions. He was refreshingly warm yet professional. I would recommend Dr. Szmyd to anyone needing eye care services.
Very proficient and great social skills!
Dr Szmyd is quite knowledgable and efficient. Handsome and friendly with a limp handshake. I had many questions and he tried to answer but i felt like he was not really getting my questions. I paid $1600. extra for the special lens to get the best long distance vision and the results were not that good. I now need glasses for distance as well as for close work or reading. I am still trying to discover the best way to proceed to get my best vision. So, I am not happy with the results.
Wish I had read previous review before seeing this guy. I was travelling through NH when a case of iritis kick in. Needed drops but couldn't get them w/o a Doctor diagnosis/prescription. Just happened to park in front of Eyesight Ophthalmic's office in Exeter, NH. Ladies at desk were courteous and said I could see Dr. Szmyd soon as he was eager to get out of the office for a round of his beloved game of golf. Once he had me in the patient chair he performed what appeared to be a competent eye exam with the slit lamp. He told me that I definitely did NOT have iritis. I asked him, "Are you SURE??" Yup, he was sure. Raced back to my home state the next day and got to my regular Opthalmologist who declared I had a raging case of iritis (3 cells). Now I have to pay Dr. Szmyd despite his dangerous misdiagnosis. Called his office but gave up after the choice of "general medical questions" sent me to "tech triage and medicinal refills".
Rude, 3 hour wait, seems to be ignorant of what he's doing. The patient needs to point out to him what needs to be done to their eyes. Acts very casual as though one's eyesight is of little or no concern to him. When asked about having a prizm in my R. glass lens, just stated "thats weird", and chuckled about it along with his assistant. Very poor MD. The office has very uncomfortable chairs, and a 3 hour wait is totally unacceptable. Had to ask him to dilate my pupils had to ask him to check about my cataracts. Gave him info from my previous opthamologist in FL and he didn't even look at it nor at my other glasses that I also wear. I DON'T recommend him to ANYONE....

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
