List of Robert W Hickey Md's Reviews
Just left an appointment with Dr. Hickey and I'm feeling so deflated. I took my daughter because she has been struggling with asthma. He rushed through the visit, when he asked me questions and I answered them, he would talk over me before I finished so I felt really rushed through my responses - and felt I wasn't even explaining everything. He recommended we allergy test my daughter even though she has already been tested- so I wanted to ask some questions and he looked visibly frustrated with me, I even apologized and said I wasn't trying to frustrate him and I just was hoping to get a little more information (SO awkward!!!) I felt horrible the whole time, and ended up leaving super awkwardly because he just literally wouldn't answer my questions anymore - it was the most bizarre thing. The whole visit was under 10 minutes and I felt like I was inconveniencing him the whole time - we got nothing from the visit and I am going to bring my daughter to another office and try again.
Dr Hickey has been my son’s allergist since he was 2 years old. He takes the time to listen to my son and his symptoms. He has always been kind and caring taking into consideration the whole patient.
I was referred to Dr. Hickey because I had two skin biopsies and a dermal patch test through a dermatologist. The skin biopsies showed hypersensitivity reaction. I have a rash on my back, head congestion/sinuses recurring off and on vertigo and a sore in my nose. I went for assistance in figuring out my skin problem/ any allergies that I have. To me, it is important for a doctor to have good bedside manner, take time to explain things and show a sense of interest in figuring out the problem. Dr Hickey had an overall short/rude style of bedside manner. Additionally, he did not explain things, try to problem solve or show interest or concern for me as a patient. He rushed through the appointment, as a second thought he checked in my nose for three seconds and minimally at my throat and ears then gave no feedback. If you are going through problems similar to mine, I would not recommend this doctor.
I have see Dr. Hickey a few times. I have suffer from significant seasonal allergies. He spent minimal time with me during both visits and did not examine my nose, throat etc. The last visit was an urgent need as I had been having ongoing symptoms for over two weeks. I had developed a dry cough in addition to allergies. When I voiced my concern he minimized matters...I ended up having to return to my primary care. The allergies, in addition to a virus which he overlooked created ear infection, eye infection and severe cough which resulted in my being out of work for a week. I will not return.
I went in to be tested for food allergies because after I eat (most every meal) I break out in a rash and/or hives and become very itchy. He simply looked at me in the first 30 seconds of meeting me for the 1st time and told me he would not test me for food allergies cause he didn’t believe I had any! He tested me only for things I already know I’m allergic to such as cats, trees, dust, etc. He was EXTREMELY ARROGANT! Do yourself a favor and STAY AWAY from this “doctor”
He was great with my 4-month-old daughter. Very thorough and answered all of my many questions.
Dr. Hickey completely dismissed all of my concerns and questions. He said that he did not believe I had a reaction and that it was just a panic attack. He was a complete jerk and did not trust that I knew the difference between the feeling of a panic attack and an allergic reaction. He stated that I needed to take a ‘hard look at myself because it doesn’t sound like I have my anxiety under control’ and that I was ‘fabricating this reaction to cover for a panic attack.’ Do not go to this doctor.
I took my 2 year old daughter to Allergy Associates of NH in Dover today. She has severe nasal inflammation, runny nose and sensitive skin. she has been sick like this every day of her life since 2 months old. We have been seeing the ENT for over a year and this was our first trip to the allergist. Dr. Hickey had terrible attitude toward me and my daughter did not respond well to him. She usually is okay at the doctor. Every time I asked him a question he was very cross with me. He would raise his voice and say "I already told you such and such". After giving her a skin test for dust and dander (negative results) he told me that he didn't think my daughter had any allergies and to stop giving her two out of the three medications that where given by the ENT that have lessened her symptoms. He did no further testing and did not schedule my daughter for another appointment. If you take your child to this office, please take my advice and see another allergist. I will be asking for another visit and a second opinion.
I found Dr. Hickey to be rude; he did not listen to me or to the pulmonologist who I have seen for years. She has seen, first hand, my reaction to mold. He told me to stop saying that I react to mold. He told me that the smell makes my chest tight. I don't have tightness around mold, I have a full-blown attack. I will not go back to him.
Takes his time when meeting with us about our baby and now toddler. He is excellent with young and older children as well. Took the time to listen to us worried parents, went the extra mile with diagnosis and listening to our concerns and observations. He is not an alarmist. He has a calm presence and excellent approach with our family. Highly recommend!

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
