List of Jolene J. Shuman's Reviews
I saw Dr. Shuman all throughout my 20's where I would complain about severe nightsweats, itchy skin, cough & difficulty breathing among other symptoms that were making my life miserable. She ignored me and belittled my symptoms, telling me I was 'fine' and probably just had anxiety. This went on for years until I went to the ER one day when I could not breathe. A week later I was diagnosed with Lymphoma (cancer!!!) that had gone undiagnosed by Shuman even after YEARS of me seeing her. I couldn't breathe because the tumor in my chest had grown so large it was taking over my body.
Exceeds all expectations! Dr. Shuman is my family physician. She cares for my 5 and 14 yr old, my husband and myself. We started with another PCP and after meeting her, switched our whole family! I recommend Dr. Shuman for patients of all ages.
It’s rare to find genuine care and professionalism as powerful as Dr. Jolene Shuman, MD. Her skills and empathetic bedside nature have been a guiding light. Prior to meeting Dr. Shuman, my experiences with other doctors were nothing short of disheartening. I was often dismissed, my concerns undermined, and at times was even left in physical pain because of a doctor's failure to acknowledge symptoms. However, from my very first appointment with Dr. Shuman, I came with a long list of concerns: from smoking cessation to weight management and sleep apnea treatment. Dr. Shuman didn't just hear my concerns; she actively listened, seeking to understand not just my symptoms but also my preferences and comfort. She effectively connected me with a medical supplier who respected my choice of sleep apnea mask, reinforcing the importance of my comfort and familiarity with treatment. From my very first visit, she made me comfortable, ensuring an environment of trust. When I was diagnosed with diabetes, she stepped into action, ensuring I had the necessary resources and education. She introduced me to a dietitian to understand the intricacies of food in relation to my condition, rather than simply prescribing medication and sending me off. When my youngest child needed specific transgender transition services, Dr. Shuman directed us towards Dartmouth's respected program, once again exhibiting her depth of knowledge and commitment to her patients. Every visit to her office has been a heartwarming experience where I felt seen as a person, not just a case. She remembers our previous conversations, from the mundane to the more significant, creating an atmosphere of genuine human connection. She is the kind of doctor who knows her patients not just by their medical histories but also by their stories. A graduate of the University of Kansas School of Medicine, board-certified in Family Practice, Dr. Shuman's qualifications are extensive. Yet, it is not merely her credentials that set her apart. Her kindness, honesty, and unwavering commitment to her patients are what truly define her practice. She has helped organize pine derbies for the local girl scouts troop! Above all, Dr. Shuman's active listening and empathetic approach to medicine have made a significant difference in my life. In the future, if she ever decides to move her practice, I will follow without hesitation. I’d drive hours to see her. Her exceptional care and genuine concern for her patients make her an irreplaceable figure in my healthcare journey. It is without reservation that I highly recommend Dr. Jolene Shuman. For those seeking a physician who combines unparalleled medical expertise with genuine compassion, she is the ideal choice. Her remarkable ability to listen actively and empathize with her patients sets a standard all healthcare professionals should aspire to. It's not just about treating symptoms; it's about treating people--and that's where Dr. Shuman excels.
Dr J. Shuman has been my pcp for 15 yrs. Every time she moves I follow her. I always feel like she hears what I say & trusts me. I have MS & she works well with my specialist.
I have followed Dr. Shuman from one practice to anther. She's an educated physician who actually listens and gets to know who you are. She's honest, intelligent and kind. She knows exactly what she's doing and I trust her 110% with my health.
Dr. Shuman is a sensitive, smart, caring doctor who immediately made me feel comfortable being in her office during this pandemic that we are experiencing. She was responsive to my needs without hesitation. I definitely recommend Dr. Shuman!
My mother is an elderly patient of Dr. Shuman. I accompanied her to a visit last week. Upon the start of the visit, Dr Shuman states: “You have 5 minutes - that’s it.” From there it got worse… My mother is overweight; diabetes and hypothyroidism runs in the family. Dr Shuman has never tested my mother for either condition. Dr Shuman was already doing blood work for my mother during the visit. I asked her to test my mother’s A1C and thyroid. Note that all the doctor had to do was literally check a few extra boxes in the lab form - that’s it. Yet she refused with no rationale. At one point while questioning her, she yelled at me and told me that I wasn’t a doctor. I have been a healthcare professional for over 20 years - this was the most unprofessional and non data driven experience I have seen in medicine. Dr Shuman should not be practicing medicine, and I highly recommend that if you have a parent to keep them away from her.

This is a review of Dr. Jolene Shuman. She's the most competent and professional doctor I've had as an adult. I am confident in her knowledge and abilities. She was always on top of my symptoms and was up to speed on my records - every time she walked in the exam room. She always made time to listen to me and hear my concerns. She was professional and sympathetic and caring. When she left the practice at Martin's Point, I was gutted but, I too, left them- as they are understaffed and the practice and management is substandard. Most days they don't even answer the phone. Will wait to see where she goes and will follow.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
