List of Robert A. Ruben's Reviews
Beware of getting treatment and/or a procedure like an endoscopy. I wound up with serious stomach punctures which took months to heal. I can say that I am not the same physically and mentally. Coincidentally I met a person who had a bad experience when getting a colonoscopy - same physician.
I saw him once, years ago. He did very little work to diagnose and resolve the issue I was having and was arrogant and condescending to boot. Steer clear.
Dr. Ruben is a Really good Doctor. But He is usually so busy .So I have been seeing His So called Nurse . Sonya And She has Not helped Me at all ! I Am going to call a Different Gastro someone who can help Me . Her name is Sonya . I do not recommend Her at all. She does not know anything. And she will continue to let you suffer ! I have been without my Omerprazole for almost 2weeks . I had to call my Primary doctor to refill my medicine Because I have been suffering so much they do not do refills at all . Horrible.
After the endoscopy he recommended and carried out (after already undergoing endoscopy and colonoscopy among other procedures prior to this) trying to diagnose an ongoing issue I was told verbatim as he walks in the room for the follow up “*sighs* I’m about at the end of my rope with this” and “We are not lacking a diagnosis”. He then didn’t provide a diagnosis…. and sent me away with a shot in the dark medication. When asked for the next avenue to follow regarding doctors he also couldn’t recommend a single neurologist to us despite knowing we would need him to refer us…. His office is also presumably understaffed as inquires are met with a waiting list to get on a waiting list. The extra star is only because the medication helped mildly with one of the symptoms of my illness.
Excellent- I have been a patient of Dr. Ruben since my first colonoscopy sometime in the late 80s/early 90s. He was very fast, which surprised me at first. However, I soon learned you simply have to take the initiative to speak up and say "I have more questions" and you immediately have his attention. He is a master of his specialty. I have Lynch Syndrome, so have a history of producing polyps which can often become malignant. He and the practice keep track of this and require appropriate other tests on a regular basis. I would recommend him to anybody who wants excellence. His team during the procedures have commented on his "demands of excellence AND speed", but he is definitely respected by them.
Honest and to the point. One of the best in the business.
Horrible practice, avoid at all costs. This practice does nothing to help their patients, and in fact just ignores them. Waiting over a week for “emergency” test results, when they are there for the doctor to review, is completely unacceptable. There are far better practices out there.
My wife was a patient at Portsmouth hospital with severe stomach pain she had to have a colonoscopy but her regular doc was unavailable. in comes dr rubin while being taken in for the procedure he assured her she wouldn't feel a thing. He failed to tell her that she wouldn't be out during the colonoscopy and endoscopy.my wife suffers from ptsd due to severe childhood trauma. This was very traumatic and unnecessary to preform this procedure in this manner. Aguick look at her medical chart would have prevented this. Not very satisfied with Dr Rubin very unprofessional and inconsiderate of my situation.
Dr. Rubin again saved my life. My fourth time with him and I trust him completely. Wouldn't have any other doctor! He's the best!!!!
Excellent Doctor. Great bed side manners.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
