Gary Mouridy's Online Review Report Card

Watch out for overbilling from Dr. Mouridy.

I had the displeasure of encountering Dr. Mouridy at Hackettstown regional medical center at the end of August, 2015. I will use the term "Dr." loosely as he is anything but in my eyes. He would most likely be better suited to operate the wet thing on a stick after a flu patient deposits their lunch on the ER floor. As his "patient" I went to the ER looking to get assistance for a large protruding vein in the front of my leg which was causing severe pain. I was concerned that I may end up with a blood clot breaking loose and traveling to either a lung or even my brain. Now I will set the scene a little more in detail for you. I am substantially tattooed on my arms and hands as well as my neck. However I do not fit the stereotypical individual of having made the choices in body art. I hold down a good paying job, take care of my family, my pets, my parents ,the whole 9. I'm also rather articulate and normally conduct myself in an overall professional manner regardless of the way people see me. Until provoked in to a position where I need to defend myself; just like this one. When this person walked in to the room before a proper hello was issued, a scan of my arms and hands by his eyes occurred. This set the tone for the next 50 minutes or so of our interaction or shall I say lack there of. When I described what I was experiencing in my leg and showed him clearly where the vein was sticking out he stated "it is a tendon or muscle as there are no veins there" Ok, well why did it have a pulse??? When I challenged him on his poor quality of attention to my required care he vanished to tend to another individual for 15 or so minutes. Upon returning he the decided that poking me in the area of pain was prudent with the "oh, how bout here? does that hurt? or here? does that hurt? When I exclaimed "YES!!" It was met with, "No, it's not possible, that doesn't hurt" I inform him that I have had a scan done in that very same hospital a year or so before for the same reason and to look it up on the patient history. This got his attention briefly and he once again vanishes to the other side of the nurses station and summons the attention of two other minor staffers to look at something on the computer. Over the top of the desk they peek at me and then duck back down behind the desk as if in a foxhole. 25 minutes elapses and again he returns to my exam room, He point blank states, "there is nothing there so I think you should see your orthopedist" I was dumbfounded. My rebuttal was This is not a bone issue it's a vascular issue, its a vein sticking out of my leg"! He says well I see you have standing scrip in the NJ, Rx for Percocet so Ill be getting you on your way. WHAT!! Now I was pist beyond words. Even the on duty nurse who was helping me was stunned at his candor. Long story short, I left there and immediately wrote a letter to the patient advocate of the Hospital regarding his demeanor. I was plainly and completely profiled as a drug addict and as someone who was looking to score a hit from the ER department. FYI, I have been on pain management for years and have a standing PRN scrip for pain meds as required for severe shoulder injuries sustained years before. I do not need his or anyone else's prescription for that. I DO NOT and have NEVER abused a substance. Case in point, this individual plain sucks as a Doctor and has the bedside manner of Kathy Bates in Misery. Use caution if you choose to see him. I wouldn't trust him to change the oil in my truck.

He was very easy to talk to and took alot of time with me. He was very thorough with my exam.
