List of Henry P. Nagelberg's Reviews
Beware of Dr Henry. He intentionally gives invalid prescriptions on white paper instead of Blue prescriptions. He doesn’t fax prescriptions to another major vision retailer and lies that he can’t send a prescription for security reasons. When asked for a written policy on security, he lied because of OSHA. OSHA applies to every business including all the doctors. He also charges more for contact lenses and eyeglasses with insurance than major retailers without insurance. BEWARE OF THIS FRAUD DR. He is just nice at talking but he gives even a hard time and makes a person wait very long if plans to pickup prescription personally. He is a GREEDY doctor. I will NOT RECOMMEND Henry Nagelberg.
Best eye doctor I've ever gone to. Dr. Nagelburg will put you right at ease.
Doctor's office called and emailed me so many time in the year 2020 and finaly I got my regular eye checkup appointment in Jan'21, but sorry to say that the check up wasn't thoroughly went threw and like doctor was in hurry and he just reffered me to cataract surgen for further surgery and when I called and emailed so many times to the doctor's office to get the eye helth report for my cataract surgery process, the receptionist responded that the report has been mailed by post physically which i never received as of the date so I requested to forward a soft copy through email and she said that "we don't have such procedure" what a great excuse !. I have my cataract surgery appointment on Monday and I do not have my eye health report and she told me that they cant do anything on that report to resend. This is so furstating being patient of an eye specialist, Sir!!!.
I have been going to this practice for many years and all was fine until last December when I was overcharged for an office visit. I have been trying since then to have $40 returned to me that my insurance provider deemed I did not owe. Countless phone calls that were never returned, some of which were directed to the bookkeeper who I believe is the doctor's wife (you would think she would have responded back to me), and an in-person visit later, I have still not received my $40. About three weeks ago I reached out to my insurance provider for help who immediately called them. They were told I would receive a check in a week. No check. I have always ordered my glasses through this practice and not inexpensive ones either. I have been a loyal and very profitable patient. But to be treated like this is at a minimum inexcusable and unprofessional. I find it hard to believe I am the first person to whom this has happened. People, probably after an experience as I have had, become so frustrated they just give up. I have come to think this is what they hope will happen and that it is their SOP. It is no longer a matter of the $40, it is a matter of principle and integrity. I feel as though I am being cheated.
Worst experience with any retailer ever. Do not come here if you have any interest in having the ability to return your glasses if you're unsatisfied. Go to any other business that will allow you to return glasses, which most will. Dr. Nagleberg refused to honor his own return policy as stated on my receipt, which wasn't even good to being with. First I was told they don't offer refunds, so I proceeded to show them their own receipt that states no refund on frames and 50% refund on lenses. He said it wasn't his return policy, and that I bought my glasses from my insurance company not him. LAUGHABLE! I called VSP in his office and told them this and they said they did not sell me the glasses and he must issue the return. Dr. Nagleberg yelled at his Optician, in the back room when she went back there to explain that I wanted a refund. He also argued with me in front of patients waiting to be seen. Then he said he had to go talk to his office manager and never came back out. Now I am left with frames that I don't like and lenses that are too strong and make me sea sick wearing them. RUN don's walk from this scam of a business. Never met such an uncaring and rude healthcare "professional". I suggest rethink the way your operate you business and treat your patients, Dr. Nagleberg.

Be careful there’s an added charge (Money Grab) for weekend appointments! I had been going to Dr.Nagelberg for at least 10 years prior to the added charge of 21$ for a weekend appointment time that I wasn’t advised of on the phone, during my appointment, etc. The bill’s I would receive after had no itemization and I was puzzled why suddenly my unchanged insurance didn’t cover the appointment. 2 unreturned calls and 4 unitemized bills later with giant highlights only on the amount due and they finally called me. I advised them my complaints with their staff, told them I have been driving out of my way to go to Dr.Nagelberg for years, and ultimately said I had no problem paying the amount but that I would never come back if they were holding me to it. She then asked for my credit card without hesitation. At least 10 years as a patient here and your ultimately just a way to make a quick buck to them. I hope Dr.Nagelberg knows his staff is doing this to his business.
Was a patient of Dr. Nagelberg's for several years. Suddenly this year the office instituted a new policy (unbeknown to me until I arrived for the appointment ) that any appointment after 4:15 is now considered "evening hours" and Saturdays, requiring an additional $35 extra charge on top of your co-pay. I told the receptionist that I would reschedule the appointment to a "regular appointment" but she said no that's ok , the office will just put it through and see what happens, just pay your normal co-pay. No mention of these "evening hours" on their website or posted anywhere in the office or even when you are actually scheduling the appointment, just a surprise when you show up for your appointment. Tried on four (4) separate occasions to speak with the office administrator and not once did I receive a return phone call -- apparently she's never in the office although they had the audacity to send me a bill for the "evening hours" extra charge. Finally had to get my insurance company involved and Dr. Nagelberg did waive the "evening hour" charge ( as he did for my coworkers who had the same experience a week later ) but this is way too much trouble and too many hours spent on the phone dealing with office staff . And by the way, the office administrator never did return my call even after the insurance representative ,via a 3-way teleconference call, heard that I would be getting a return phone call by the end of the week. Dr. Nagelberg, as owner of the business, is ultimately responsible for his office administration and I can clearly see (no pun intended) that this is no way to treat any patients. A patient should know head of time if there is a change in fee policy and a return phone call from a office administrator is not too much to ask for --- seems like just business practice to me.
Two weeks ago, my elderly mother went to her scheduled 5:15 pm appointment with Dr. Nagelberg. Upon check in, she was told that a new policy was in place where she'd be charged an "after hours fee" of $34 for scheduling an appointment after 4 pm, despite the office maintaining business hours until 7 pm. No advanced notice of the fee was provided when scheduling this appointment, and there was no signage indicating a change in policy. Additionally, after asking to speak with the Office Manager about the change more than two weeks ago, my mother hasn't received a call back despite placing three follow up calls. Dr. Nagelberg personally waived this fee for my mother's co-worker.As someone who works in healthcare administration, it's clear that this practice is both unprofessional and a thinly veiled revenue-boosting scheme.
I made an appointment since I could not see well. He dilated my eyes and told me that I had cataracts and possibly diabetes. Spent very little time with me. Referred me to a cataract specialist. Billed me $150 on my visit and then another $41 despite my BlueCross BlueShield payments. Charged me for refractory tests that could NOT have been done given my limited sight. No prescription given, but I was billed for the test! Office staff useless and billing person completely incompetent. Considering asking BlueCross BlueShield to investigate billing for tests not performed. Cataract specialist very thorough charging a total of $50. I will never go back to Dr Nagelberg and suggest that you STAY AWAY!!!

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
