Elsa I. Castro's Online Review Report Card

Refused to give my daughter the ekg she was referred there for after telling me she heard 2 murmurs as she just walked out of the room like it was nothing. Now 3 days later I’m told by another dr that my child needs that ekg to get much needed medication. So now my child will suffer longer while we wait for appointments that are months away all because Dr Elsa Castro wouldn’t provide the treatment we were referred there for in the first place. And when I called back to see if she’d actually do it this time she told me that she didn’t need to do it Monday that she was able to look and listen to her heart. Well that’s not what we came for and no other dr is going by my word of mouth over what this dr said. Completely unprofessional. Basically I’m nuts for thinking she was ever getting an ekg to begin with. No I can read and I keep a copy of everything.

This is more around the overall experience. We had an appt for our 4yr old to check in a heart murmur, not sure if bad luck or what but we got a call to come at a 10am to see Dr Zales, get there fill out the paperwork then proceed to wait. 45 mins in the waiting room (everyone else who arrived after got called in before, presumably with other Drs but uncertain), another 10 mins in the room before Dr Castro came in. Off the bat she seemed irritated and hady daughter remove her shirt which instantly made her uncomfortable and she did not want to cooperate with the Dr. I tried to get her to relax but I know the Dr only got more annoyed and said she couldn't see my daughter if she was gonna be like this and walked out the room... No attempt to try diff approach,method, do a diff part of the test first... After waiting almost an hour to have the Dr refuse treatment after less then 5 mins of a 4yr old adjusting to her I was also upset both at the office for the mismanagement if timing and scheduling and the Dr refusal to treat her, she may or may not be a good cardiologist but her manner d along with young children is to be desired and will ensure our insurance knows they refused treatment and have no place billing.

Five stars is not enough. Dr Castro is the most caring, knowledgeable, compassionate and understanding physician I have ever met. She has taken care of my son for 20 years and is always there for us when we need her. I trust her decisions and sleep easier at night after she sees him. I would trust no one else with my son's medical issue. She truly is one of a kind and cares for her patients as if they were her own children. Her office staff is wonderful, caring and accommodating. You will not a find a better Pediatric Cardiologist!!

Dr Castro and staff are very professional caring and educated. A few years back my daughter was very ill and Dr Castro did everything she could possible to ensure that my daughter got her medicine and was healthy

Dr Castro is one of the most compassionate cardiologist we have met. She thoroughly explained in detail what was going on with our children. Her ability to use analogies to explain complex medical circumstances was helpful. Dr Castro is calm and provides a warm environment. We love her!

Dr. Elsa Castro was my pediatric cardiologist until a few years ago. She was an intern the day of my first major surgical procedure & we later found her in our path and realized we couldn't let her go. We followed her everywhere. My name is Karina G & I can tell you that she's the main reason why I am pursuing pediatric cardiology. The level of comfort that she was not only providing for my parents but also for me as a child, is unheard of. Usually the parents speak out about how wonderful she is but ill give you a review from a patient's perspective. I'm 24 now & she practically had to force me out of her office because she could no longer be my primary cardiologist. I owe her the world. She's given me the beautiful liberty to live with such ease and tranquility. My condition is significant, but its also been so well managed by Dr. Castro; I feel unstoppable. She taught me many things about my condition but also about my life. She's the pediatric cardiologist your child deserves.

I took both of my kids to Dr. Castro to have them screened for heart defects that run in my husband’s family. This may have been the best experience I’ve ever had at a doctor’s office. It was easy to get an appointment at a convenient time for us. It was an afternoon appointment so I expected to have to wait in the waiting room, but they called us into the exam room about a minute after taking our paperwork. The office is clean, bright, and the staff are friendly. They did EKGs and echos right in the exam room, and both the nurse and Dr. Castro explained everything thoroughly to me and my kids. They made my kids feel comfortable and unafraid. Answered all of our questions. So nice and easy to talk to. They even keep the ultrasound jelly for the echo in a warmer. My kids almost fell asleep during it, it was so comforting! Luckily we got all good news, and they had Tootsie Pops and stickers for the kids on the way out. It was a perfect 10/10 as far as doctor visits go! Thank you Dr. Castro and staff for being so wonderful!

It was easy to get an appointment at a convenient time for us. The office is clean, bright, and the staff are friendly. We only waited a minute or two in the waiting room. They did EKG and echo right in the exam room. Did not have to schedule these tests separately or wait for results. Dr. Castro explained everything to me and my kids thoroughly and made my kids feel so comfortable and unafraid. She is easy to talk to, and answered all of my questions. It was such a pleasant experience that I felt compelled to write reviews and recommend this office/doctor to anyone looking for a pediatric cardiologist.

Dr Castro is amazing. She saw my son Cameron at the age of two days old due to VSD. She means the world to us, she treats us like we are family. I truly truly believe in her and how amazing her staff is.

Brought my teenaged daughter in to see Dr Castro and we both loved LOVED her. She's got a great personality that puts you at ease. She does an awesome job of explaining the diagnosis in simple laymen's terms that the average human being can understand, and her followup and willingness to help is a huge plus. Wish we could stick with her but unfortunately she does not specialize in my daughters diagnosis. Very cool woman....Wish I could invite her home for dinner.
