My GFR suddenly dropped 50 pts to 44 after taking Proton Pump inhibitors for 2 months. 2 people in a kidney support group told me to contact my nephrologist immediately to let him know I was on PPIs because they led them to being on dialysis. Sadly I had to call after hrs and explained my situation to the answering service. They said we will have the dr on call reach out to you immediately. Dr Shirappa was the on call Dr and I immediately apologized for calling late but explained that I had blood in my urine and my GFR has dropped 50 pts in 2 months since being on them and asked if I should stop taking them. He immediately became rude and arrogant and asked “man why are you calling at this hour? Do whatever you want and call your Dr on Monday” and hung up on me.

I just had my first appointment with Dr. Schirippa and found him to be very personable, knowledgeable, attentive to my health issues, and extremely open to taking any time necessary to answer all of my questions. After the appointment I felt assured that I had found the right doctor (and I don't always feel that way!).

The worst doctor I have ever had to deal with to date. He is very rude and will talk down to you while giving minimal information and preventing you from asking questions . dr knows you need their overview. but won't sign off on you to get dialysis unless you kiss their ~!@#$ so if you don't kiss their butt , no dialysis. NO dialysis? you die in ten days. dr's attiude, he fired me ME?? NO CLOWN, i fired you !! avoid this joker, unless you want to live on your knees to live. never beg this to live. never !!!!

I found Dr. Schirripa to be extremely knowledgeable, personable, friendly, and patient. He spends as much time as needed to answer all your questions and concerns. He is a definite asset to our south Jersey location.
