This place saved my life as a child
Almost killed me with diabetes multiple times
55 years ago on November 11, 1965 I had open heart surgery at the age of 6. Because I was so young & from PA, the hospital accommodated my Mom in the nurses dorm. I will always remember the kindness the staff showed me & kept me from being afraid. If not for Deborah, I would never have had the life I have.
Diabetes Specialty Program CANCELLED without proper notice. Received a mailed notice dated September 3, 2020 on September 27, 2020Stated I could keep my Upcoming scheduled appointmentShowed up at 1:50 pm and waited until my 2:00 pm scheduled appointmentNo one there to greet meCannot get into my portal. No email noticeCannot see results of my final bloodworkWAY TO THROW US UNDER THE BUS AFTER 10 YEARS!
Horrific cardiac cardiac catherization experience. Never again. Insufficient anesthesia during the procedure. I FELT (not just "pressure") extreme pinching and manipulation in my wrist and hand as well as FELT the cath tube push inside my vein until it reached my shoulder. I felt it move again and again. The heparin BURNED when injected repeatedly into my vein. I verbalized these feelings. This was TORTURE. Immediately after the catherization, I developed a hemotoma in my forearm where the catherization was done. One MD removed one or two CDs of air from the compression band on my wrist. My hand was ice cold and turned purple. Nurses were highly concerned. MD did not evaluate for a hematoma. Later, while I waited in a holding area, because a bed was unavailable, my hand remained purple, cold and my forearm swelled. NURSES CALLED MULTIPLE PHYSICIAN PHONES AND NO ONE ANSWERED!!! I had to feel and watch my forearm swell up with blood while I begged that someone come to help. The on call MDs did not respond! Finally an MD not assigned to the area responded. The hemotoma had to have the blood and fluid PUSHED OUT of the cut made in my vein for the Cath tube. That cut was supposed to be clotting and healing. That hurt like hell. Soon after this procedure, my forearm became hard and swollen again. I was frightened. I begged to have an MD evaluate it again. The same MD responded after 2.5 hours and explained what was happening. I lost use of my hand and wrist for 24+ hours due to extreme swelling and trauma. See pictures. I called the Deborah grievance line for help. Had to leave a message and it's now been 48 hours and no contact. There were too many patients who required physician assistance and not enough MDs to respond to the emergencies. All staff I spoke to said they were extremely busy with patients. My Cath appointment was at 4 pm and it began around 6. I am traumatized and horrified from this experience.
It was freezing cold outside while we were waiting for our food 🥘, but the coffee really warmed us up. It was our first time eating there and they made a really great 👍🏾 impression on their food. So it looks like we’re going to be eating there from now on.
Love the Deborah family but so sad to hear Dr. Vecchio and the Diabetes Center will no longer be a part of it.
Without a doubt the best hospital in NJ. Working with Cardiologist Dr. Barn & JoAnne Chichetta has saved my life. They go above & beyond all that has to be done from filing appeals for prescriptions not being approved by my insurance co (Entresto & Vyndamax) to the ease in getting appointments & the lab. Wish I could give this place 100 stars. I live 70 miles away & will not go anywhere else. Thank you to all the doctors / nurses / staff. Place is top notch.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
