Alan Stuart Gellerstein's Online Review Report Card

My doctor retired and I wanted a female physician, but the reviews of Dr. Gellerstein made me choose him. I'm so glad. I felt so comfortable with him and felt he was very thorough in his exam, listened and asked meaningful questions, and was all I could ask for. I feel so lucky that he has a convenient office and is in my insurance network.

The doctors are great, however the front office staff is the absolute worse. Multiple times I have had the worst experience speaking to them, rude for no reason, always in a rush, and don't try to help. I have been seeing Dr G for years, and if it weren't for him I would have left this office a long time ago. Def need the utmost patience to endure there horrendous admin staff.

I called to get a script from the doctor for a simple blood test follow up and I never heard back from anybody, I had to call three times.

Totalily new experience on seeing a doctor. Doctor Gellerstein is awesome, nothing compared to my previous doctors. He covers all points on my first appointment. This doctor talk to you like you are there in front of him, not thinking of the next patient next room. I even told my girlfriend to change her doctor. Staff at the clinic are all pleasant and accommodating. I don't live in the area but I don't mind driving. Five big star for you Doc.

I find it very disappointing that I made an appointment as a new patient two weeks in advance and the day of my appointment they tell me they are not taking annual check-ups. I would have appreciated a call way in advance instead of the day of. The only reason I booked it two weeks in advance was because that was the only appointment I could get. I understand the situation going on right now but a courtesy call way in advance so I may book an appointment elsewhere would have been greatly appreciated. I was immediately turned off by this place and had really high hopes for it. Very disappointing.

The best family physician. Dr. Gellerstein is caring, a good listener, and explains things really well. Highly recommended.

I have been seeing Dr. Gellerstein for quite some time. He always takes the time to listen, and is always quick with a smile or a joke, which really makes me comfortable. He is very highly respected among other doctors in the area, and I plan to stay with him as long as I can. The practice is pretty busy, so getting someone on the phone is sometimes hard, but the My Chart app is great, and he replies to emails.

Dr Gellerstein is the only doctor I would trust with my families health. He is thorough and caring. Billing is accurate and appointments are easy to make. Wait times are generally short.

This isnt a review of Alan, but the staff at the building. It is Impossible to schedule an appointment. His and others have 1 generic phone number that you have to hit a dozen extensions just to get a real person. Once that person came on, I tried scheduling an appointment as a new patient. I was put on hold 4 different times. The final time, I was on hold for 15 mins. A different receptionist answered asking if I needed help as if they had no idea why I was on the phone. While back on hold, I receive a call from a random number and they left a message. It ended up being the same office from the SAME woman that had me on hold, asking me to confirm my birth date. Still on hold, ANOTHER different receptionist comes on asks me why I am on hold. I just said to cancel my info and gave up. Absolute insanity.

He has been my doctor and my family's doctor for 20 years now and not only is he an amazing doctor, he is also caring, compassionate, and a genuinely great person. I moved away from Cedar Knolls but i still go to him and will continue to do so until he moves far far away or retires.
